MPs discuss giving permanent residency to expats

Friday, November 24, 2017

Parliamentarians discuss the idea of granting permanent residence to expatriates after spending 30 years in Kuwait. According to Arab Times report, citing Al Rai Arabic news paper, reported that several MPs came forward to discuss the idea of granting permanent residence to expatriates, which will help in allow expatriates to invest in Kuwait instead of transferring money to their home countries.

MP Abdullah Fahad said that the idea of granting permanent residency to expatriates who spent 30 years in Kuwait after obtaining police clearance to prove he/she is without criminal record or threatens public security will allow expatriates to invest in Kuwait. He added that the proposal will help Kuwait to keep its humane heritage while maintaining good reputation.

Another MP Salah Khorshid is of the view that permanent residency should be given to expatriates based on their contribution to Kuwait and not just the number of years spent in the country. He stressed that expatriates are always welcome to Kuwait. However, he is concerned about their increasing number, because they put a heavy load on facilities and services — citing traffic jam and medical services resulting from population imbalance.

MP Muhammad Al-Huwailah said the issue must be studied carefully to determine expatriates who deserve permanent residence. He reiterated advanced countries induce and attract individuals with exceptional qualifications who can support their economy by offering them special benefits.

Dear Parliamentarians,
This conversation of Permanent visa for expats i think it was discussed atleast 15 years back .. and morevoer making of trains , mono rail and transport conveyance, expansion of airport, visit exit visa by road to go neighbouring countries I think this was also discussed atleast 15 years and YET it is still discussing and discussing with many MP term changing and again discussion and discussion but at the end with no final fruitful conclusion ..
Inspite of this no final conclusion on the above welfare therefore now to make matter worse on increase of govt medical fees ,high rent , increased price on food & other related items, increase of civil ID fees and above all now too much restriction on road driving penalty and fines, no night life , only construction of Malls and Malls for what , no more Disney land entertainment , no touristic place nothing to see, I think nearly by now 65% of the families have moved back home or abroad .. Many have sold their cars and now travelling by BUS which is relaxing .. To do a business we cannot be our own sponsorship or direct Ministry sponsorship for a business to start. just pay to unknown locals sposnsorships, , staff salaries and business is not high ..there is too much tension.. not at ease like neighbouring country.how much happy and enjoyment .
So this planning of permanent visa should have done much before 15 to 20 years back . Surely many expats would have invested in business alot , invested in Banks such as Bonds , equitiy,Mutual funds or FD's ...Many would have brought their old parents, kids would have study here and gone to new foreign university in kuwait and many more etc etc.
Anyway it is never too late . Keep deciding but see to come to an amicable solution at your earliest... Kuwait is still beautiful and peaceful good climate after Oman --- I mean there is no Humidity '''

Welcome suggestion. Number of years should not be so high. For analyzing one’s criminal background and profile this much period is not required. Consider Kuwait Government to issue special bonds that fetch around 5% interest and those who can invest 100,000 KD and completed 10 to 15 years in Kuwait and have qualifications that are useful to Kuwait may be considered for permanent residency. Government should release certain Number of quota for this on yearly basis like 1000 persons per year. This will bring 100 million KD investment per year.

They have been talking for so many years but still discussing the issue. I think nobody will be interested now in permanent residence, which was also discussed 20 years back but nothing happen. I dont think people are now interested. After all it is expensive country. so i am sure anybody will interested to become permanent residence, because details are not still out. we wait and watch.
