MP Propose KD 1,000 for driving license for expats

Thursday, January 11, 2018

MP Safa Al-Hashem filed a parliamentary proposal to resolve the problem of traffic jams in Kuwait by imposing exorbitant fees on expats when issuing driving licenses, renewing them and registering vehicles in theirnames, in addition to restrictions on renewing the registration of expats’ vehicles older than 10 years.

According to local media report, the proposal, addressed to the speaker of the Assembly, said, “In coordination with the government’s plan to expand and develop road grids and in view of the current traffic congestions resulting from ongoing construction on various roads, I propose the following:

• Collecting KD 1,000 to issue a driving license to expats.

• Collecting an annual fee of KD 500 for renewing these licenses.

• Collecting a fee of KD 500 and multiples thereof from expats owning more than one vehicle.

• Automatically linking expats’ driving licenses to their work permits to prevent forgery and exemptions - the license validity is annulled in case of not meeting any of the issuance conditions.

• Banning the renewal of expats’ vehicle registrations if the car is more than 10 years old.”

Earlier on several occasion MP Safa Al-Hashem continued her anti-expatriate proposals by demanding a 10-year cap on the stay of foreigners in the country and a ban on dependent visas, except for parents. Earlier she has already proposed taxing expatriates and imposing a five-percent fee on their money transfers.

No need for any reaction. She is only a small time politician. This is only a proposal, for which the majority in Parliament will reject. She gets her 15 mins of fame once a week. Let' s not panic. However, she has to be very careful. Hitler rose to power by blaming other community for the ills of Germany.

As she is lady I respect her but I can suggest the best ways

1). Like Dubai let them set up a Metro - why such a rich country does not have a train services
2). Improve the bus services
3). Force the Company owners to provide bus service to their staff or transport services
4). Except Sales no one should be allow to have car
5). Restrict each National to have minimum 2 cars
6). IF Expat do not buy the care what about the company who run car selling and buying cars
7). Improve your road but big highway and control traffics
8). Imposed strict laws for violation of traffic for both
9). Stop vasta system
10) impound old cars
11). change school timing or change office timing for all the nation

I would like to above comments further, who build your roads and highways and bridges expriates, and now you asking them kd 1000 for the licences.I am ex expriates stayed in your country for 35 years and i left it, thinking in future you will understand the problems of expriates but you are getting bad to worse in the context of expriates. God bless u and your country.

Tell me Who ??

When u go to a petrol station, who fills it in ur vehicles, A 'National' or An 'Expat' ?

When Buildings are constructed, who risks his life , A National or An Expat ??

When u r hungry and order pizza, who will deliver it to ur doorstep, A National or An Expat ??

When u throw garbage, who comes and collect it, A National or An Expat ??

When u run a company, who will work harder, A National or An Expat ??

and the biggest question, when ur wives are pregnant, Who will deliver ur baby, A National or An Expat ??

similarly who will drives Buses/taxis, clean toilets, be a Mandoub, Repair ur cars and many many more things ??

And instead of thanking them for their services, they are constantly try to suck their blood in an attempt to get rid of them.

But just think once, can the Nationals do all these things in absence of expats ?? if not, then make them learn to do all these or tell them to be used to without of these luxury services because soon u guys will make all the expats to leave this country !!

Unfortunately she is not addressing the root cause of traffic problems. As per the latest statistics, 72% of the expats are marginal workers who cannot afford their own cars. Of the remaining 28%, less than 3% must be owning multiple vehicles.

But she is not talking about the citizens, who are owning at least 3 to 4 cars per house. I have a rich Kuwaiti neighbor who owns about 10 cars.

God bless her for her hatred towards the expat community.

If you want to reduce traffic and avoid congestion caused by expats, then please stop giving visas to expats. Its like you want expats to come here and they should be suffering too by imposing too much rules on them.

GREAT EXPAT 2018
Wednesday, January 10, 2018
Why is KD 1,000 for driving license proposal only to the EXPATS ???? and
Why not to the Nationals as well.????
Are ONLY the expats driving the cars causing traffic jam on the roads ????? and
Has been the expansion and the development of the road grids been done ONLY for the growth of the expats???

By imposing such exorbitant fees on expats for issuing driving licenses, renewing them and for vehicles registration is like taking our hard earned money from our pockets instead of feeding for our families and children etc for education...food...old parents medical...etc.. you are asking us to put it for the Roads?????. Get into the shoes of the expats.

Expats are sacrificing their families back home...their time...their efforts...their hard work....their education...etc in every way.

It is pathetic every day to read only on the expats.....proposals for imposing fees on the residency issues / transfers....or the driving licenses or the school fees...or the rents....or the hospitals...or the remittances..etc...

Still there is no proposal on the monthly salary to be hiked ONLY FOR THE EXPATS.

IT IS ENOUGH EXPATISM ON THE EXPATS....

the people who voted for her inshallah will understand the biggest mistake they did of their life cause this soul is hell bent on destroying the Kuwait economy..just a simple calculation...the fresh milk delivered to her house by KDD driver who is an expat and KDD will pay 500 KD for his license renewal...what will be the cost of that milk ??? and same chain reaction will be for all deliveries...UNLESS the van drivers are KUWAITIS !!!

I have learnt flying and very soon would start flying to and back from office, how will you stop me from that?? It seems expat bashing is the favorite discussion topic for "MP's" inside parliament, if you have such a big problems with expats being in Kuwait, just kick them out, what stops you from doing that?
