Government reject tax on expat remittance

Sunday, May 27, 2018

Government reiterated on it’s stance that rejected the proposal to impose taxes on expatriates’ remittances, local daily Arab Times reported. The proposal to impose taxes on expatriates’ remittances was earlier approved by the Parliamentary Financial Committee, and the relevant report referred to the parliament for deliberations and voting.

According to Arab Times daily report, government’s position toward the proposal hasn’t changed a bit, indicating the government has always been against the idea of imposing taxes on expatriates’ money transfers due to its negative repercussion—being a partial solution that will not bring any worthwhile returns to the treasury.

Its good decision. However, it is heard that Kuwait Govt, is always in talk for localization. Is there any impact on expats over there for a long run
