Leaders, Legends, Myths and Toastmasters

The only impossible journey is the one you never begin

“In this ever evolving journey of Toastmasters, I will either win or I will learn”, quoted by Division D Director Alifiya Lakdawala.

Toastmaster international provides a supportive learn-by-doing environment that allows everyone to achieve their goals. It offers everyone an equal opportunity with useful tips and tricks that help develop and accelerate speaking skills along with honing leadership proficiencies. If you, your family or friends wish to be part of this exciting journey of ever evolving and want to stand out as tall leaders, people who can think out of the box and can speak on any platform then this is just your perfect gateway.

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. And that step was taken by two marvelous, fantastic and inspiring ladies Alifiya Lakdawala, as Division D Director and Fatima Abdullah, as Division I Director. A star doesn’t need to define itself, its shining brightness speaks for itself and people realize it’s a star. Likewise, our great leaders need no introduction; their body of work speaks volumes. They not only assumed office but executed it with utmost sincerity and dedication. They executed their duties with aplomb and groomed and developed their teams, their subordinates to become future great leaders and assume office with equal ease and confidence. For those who have been off the grid, here’s a quick glance of activities, achievements and new benchmarks set under the duo Legends.

Alifiya Lakdawala, always charmed Kuwait toastmasters fraternity with presenting something different and unique. Her innovative ideas gave different and compelling opportunities in the form of big hit events like “Table topics with a Twist” and “Dimensions 2018 with District Trio”.

Fatima Abdullah an eloquent and charismatic leader with so many leadership achievements in her kitty, gave toastmasters an impressive and immersive “Leap to Excellence” event along with many other social and educational programs that kept everyone glued.

It is worth mentioning and highlighting, both Division D and I are President Distinguish Divisions, reflecting the sheer commitment of leadership.

Their stories and feats of achievements are endless, just like their energy and enthusiasm. But, the dream run had to come to an end. And so they bid goodbye to their office leaving a remarkable trace, trail and legacy to follow.

Every ending has a new beginning and with this end, dawns a new beginning too. With utmost confidence and humbleness do Mr. Ram Kumar Nachupally and Mr. Christy Kulathooran take charge of the office as Division E and Division F respectively for the new term beginning July 1st. With this new dawn in District 20 Toastmasters, Division D is officially termed as Division F and likewise Division I is termed as Division E.

Mr. Ram Kumar is an eminent personality. He has the highest number of awards under his belt in District 20 toastmasters in the shortest span of time. Even before assuming the office as Division E Director, he has a plethora of awards and achievements under his belt. It just pushes one to imagine where he can take the entire Division and his subordinates with the authority and power. No amount of words can describe the wonderful human being that he is, but in a nut shell, he is all heart and completely selfless. His selflessness has not only won hearts but conquered them all.

Mr. Christy, his out of the box ideas and approach, his sincere dedication, his drive to achieve more, spirit of team work and the right attitude makes him the ideal and favored choice as Division F Director. His philosophy, “A group is like a hot air balloon. If the air heats and goes up, the balloon automatically rises. Similarly, if the group toastmasters rise, the Club and Division automatically rises”, has made him rise and shine ; but in a nut shell, he is all quality driven by performance.

Mr. Ram Kumar and Christy Kulathooran have taken the responsibility to hold high the benchmarks laid by the previous Division Directors and continue the legacy of delivering nothing but excellence.

Under the astounding leadership of Alifiya Lakdawala, Division D delivered with a bang and stomp, firecracker term ending by presenting District 20 with winners in all 3 categories at D20TAC 2018 which was recently concluded at Symphony Style hotel in Kuwait. Division D took the entire auditorium by storm and surprise.

As they complete their tenure successfully, they have taken the Leap of Excellence from Leaders to Iconic Legends. They both along with District 20 Director Doctor Mohammed Makhlouf will remain the source of inspiration to keep achieving and rising above boundaries.

Wishing them all the very best in all their future endeavors and Wishing the new incoming leaders and their team a very successful term.

“The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep”, rightly quoted by Alifiya Lakdawala for all the future and budding toastmasters to stay motivated.

Signing off for the current term, Division D PR, Farhan.
