Basements are strictly for parking purpose only

Sunday, September 23, 2018

Kuwait Municipality disclosed that they will start a campaign for evacuating rented basements in residential areas in accordance with the licenses granted to them, as the basements are intended to be car parking spaces for the residents of those buildings.

Officials explained that building owners will be obliged to reallocate the basements of their buildings as car parks by the force of the law. Officials also added that the tenants can sue landlords or file complaints against them at various municipality branches if basements are rented out or used without municipal permission. “Director Ahmed AlManfouhi instructed all branches to start listing violating buildings to warn them and later check that the changes have been made in order to avoid compulsory eviction with the interior ministry’s assistance,” the sources explained.

The sources also added that growing numbers of citizens and expats have been complaining about getting parking tickets because they have no parking spaces outside their buildings.

Municipality is granting license to building owners for stores/ garages.

But still that won''t help much. A Building of 10 floors means approx. 40 apartments, and the building basement can occupy 15-20 cars or even less, govt still need to find some alternate solutions.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! first of all.. If the Ministry really peruses this, it can largely solve the problem of parking. Its not difficult to enforce this law.. simply give a notice to the building owner that their license will be revoked in a months time.. and this should be by the highest authority.
But Good luck guys.. cos most of the buildings are owned by rich kuwaities..

Don''t rejoice, nothing will change. Expats are destined to struggle to find parking spaces now are in the near future. You will never see the dawn in the next many decades.

Greedy people do not obey the law. And they try all sort of influence to stop the officers to implement the law...
There are many laws are not strictly observed in Kuwait, Eg: area based rental charge. years of rent agreement.... etc etc

Good News... I was surprising since the day I entered Kuwait in regard with parking - in the modern world basements are built under flats exclusively for parking, but here I have noticed all the basements are rented for stores, and some areas I have seen studio rooms as well...
Grateful to Municipality if they start a campaign for evacuating rented basements in residential areas as basements are intended to be car parking spaces for the residents of the flats.
Thanks to the Kuwait Municipality.

A building with 28 floors are coming up near our house in Fahaheel block 10.
But absolutely no parking place is planned for them.
I was wondering how the government gave permission for such a tall building without sufficient parking space to those who are coming to this building. We decided to shift our house when the building started occupying.
Also I felt that it is not having sufficient cross sectional area in proportion to it''s height.
