In the state of ODISHA they say there are 13 festivals in 12 months (“Bara Mase Tera Paraba”) - One of them is Kumar Purnima (Sharad Purnima) festival which is celebrated in the full-moon day in the month of October-November. This autumn festival is one of the most popular and important festival of Odisha.

Young girls in Odisha worship Kumar or Kartikeya (the elder son of Lord Shiva and Parvati), for winning a handsome husband. To introduce our younger generation to the cultural aspects of Odisha, Kuwait Odisha Association (KOA) arranged a program among its members to celebrate this festival on 26th October 2018. .

The program titled "Kunwara Punei Janha Lo..." had a rich attendance beyond expectation. This is the first time KOA celebrated this festival with joy and keenness. People participated enthusiastically in the song and dance programs laid out in the program format. It brought forth sweet memories of the rich tradition of Odisha. KOA, will henceforth celebrate this festival as a regular event every year.
