The Indian Community School Emerges Champions for the 17th time in a row at the 20th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletic meet.

It was amidst great Jubilation that the 20th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletic Meet was initiated at the Amateur Athletic Federation Stadium, Khaifan. The Athletic Meet spanned across three days, from 21st October 2018 to 23rd October 2018 was a luminous affair, organized by the Indian Community School, Kuwait, heralding athletic teams from 14 schools across the country. The event is a spectator to 537 athletes jockeying for top positions in 66 track and field events.

The Indian Community School, Kuwait, has proved to be an institution par excellence yet again as the invincible athletes of ICSK lifted overall championship trophy for the record 17th time with an incredible performance at the 20th Kuwait Cluster Athletic Meet. The ICSK team emerged winners with a total of 350 points and with a huge margin of 82 points over the runners-up team. The Gulf Indian School bagged the Second Position with 268 points and the United Indian School secured the Third Position with 213 points.

The ICSK champions secured 22 gold medals, 16 silver medals, 6 bronze medals in a total of 66 events that were held as part of the CBSE Athletics meet. A new meet record was set at the CBSE Kuwait Cluster Meet, by the ICSK athletes. Archana Srinivas, Abigail Mary Yang, Audrrey Lewis, Omaira Farahan & Abigail Fernandes of the ICSK in U-17 Girls 4x100 meters relay.

The ICSK team also clinched 3 Individual Championships in the Girls Categories; Under 14-Desha Shenoy, Under 17- Abigail Mary Yang, & Under 19 - Dinah Stephen.

The Inaugural Ceremony, on the 21st of October, 2018, was crowned with the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran, Principal-Gulf Indian School. The Principals of various CBSE schools in Kuwait-Mr. Arul Dharmaraj, Principal, Integrated Indian School, Mrs. Leena, Principal, Kuwait India School, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal Indian Educational School, Kuwait, Mr.R.Ajith Kumar, Principal, United Indian School, Kuwait & Mr.Baldwin Faife, Principal, Al Amal Indian School also graced the occasion.

The many illustrious dignitaries elevated the event to greater heights. The Kuwait Chapter Convener, Dr.V.Binumon, (Senior Administrator and Principal ICSK) declared the athletic meet open.

The three-day event saw the athletes teeming with vigour fight tooth and nail in 66 events. The event stood testimony to revealing the character of the fierce athletes brimming with vitality and passion which ushered in victory creating new meet records in track and field events by the students. The Valedictory Ceremony was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest- Mrs.Asha Sharma, Principal, Indian Learners Own Academy. In the lively and exciting closing ceremony, the winners regaled themselves with the applause of acknowledgement, and the euphoria of victory and sportsmanship as the trophies and certificates were given away by the luminous dignitaries including the Principals of various CBSE schools in Kuwait.

The unflinching support of the ICSK School Management, untiring efforts of the physical education teachers and the talent and hard work of the students has made this unparalleled achievement possible for the ICSK. The management, staff and students of the ICSK extend hearty congratulations to the athletes and physical education teachers of the ICSK who have once again brought laurels to the school.
