IIK held Award Nite for Young Reporters; Malavika Krishna bags Best IIK Young Reporter 2018

The much appreciated IIK Young Reporter program held their annual gala Award Nite for the Year 2018 and given out awards to variosu IIK Young reporters. The Award Nite was held on Thursday, 29th November 2018 from 6:00 PM onwards at Gurukul Auditorium, Salmiya.

Eight new IIK Young Contributors were felicitated with certificates from IIK and Two new IIK Young Reporters got their Badges.

Then came the awards for the Young Reporters and Contributors who contributed to the YR program by sending in quality articles out of which some of the articles were selected for their relevance to the student community, for their originality and quality of writing. The awards were sponsored by American Tourister.

1. Marushka Fernandes - The Most Exciting Article - for the Article Exploring Worlds Beyond Our Limits

2. Malavika Krishna - The Most Matured Article - for the article Kolkata, The City Where I Started Reinventing Myself

3. Lakshmi Nanda Madhusoodhanan - The Most Thought Provoking Article - for the Article Being a Woman of the Society

4. Reyna Mary John - The Most Revered Article - for the Article Teachers – for the Article Beacons of our Lives.

5. Daran Velmurugan - The Most Thoughtful Article - for the Article WWW.COM

6. Shreya V Arun - The Young Mind Innovation Award -for the Article AdiShankara Asianet News Young Scientist Award

The awards were sponsored by American Tourister and the award contained certificates and American Tourister bags.

Malavika Krishna was declared as Best IIK Young Reporter for the Year 2018. Earlier IIK had nominated 5 IIK Young Reporters and conducted a written test. Panel of Judges selected the winner based on Good linguistic skills, Report-writing style etc.

Marushka Fernandes, Malavika Krishna, Lakshmi Nanda Madhusoodhanan, Reyna Mary John and Shreya V Arun were the 5 Nominated IIK Young Reporters. They received medals during the award ceremony. Best IIK Young Reporter received a branded Watch sponsored by TIK TOK, Trophy and a Certificate from IndiansinKuwait.com.

Mr Surya S Prakash, Mentor of IIK Young Reporter Program and IIK Officials together presented the Awards.

IIK also announced Best School for their Contribution towards this program for the year 2018. Based on Highest number of Students who contributed, Hight number of articles published on IIK for this program and highest number of awards won by the students for the year 2018. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan - IES was awarded Best School Contributor for the year 2018 with a trophy from IndiansinKuwait.com. Representative from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan received the Trophy during the Award nite.

IIK Young Reporter program is to encourage the writing skills of the young students from the community. Students from 6th standard to 12th standard studying in various Schools here in Kuwait can became part of this program. Congratulations to all the winners. But i personally feel that it is not fair that for 3 consecutive years the same child gets the Young Reporter award. A lot of kids put in a lot of effort to write articles and get recognized. When the same child is given the prize every year it demotivates all the others. Kindly consider this point for next year and you will see a lot more budding writers interested to write articles.
