New proposal "Salary tax" for expats

A member of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry propose "Salary Tax" for expatriates.

According to his vision the salary tax should be deducted immediately from the salary as soon as it is deposited in the account of the employee. He pointed out that the tax average will be organized in different categories according to the value of the salary. He added that his suggestion matches the State’s intention concerning the enhancement of other non-oil revenues.

He stressed on the need to ignore the imposition of fees in the remittance process, which will

have negative repercussions and will work to create a parallel ‘black’ market that will be out of control and will cause mess to the market.

Kuwait got the title of the world laziest country in the world. It means that kuwaitis don''t like to work but they want to earn money. They earn money from poor expats by looting their hard earned money, imposing them unfair taxes. All the money earned from wrong way, always costs somewhere. Just remember my words, Kuwait ministry is running country by making policies, but economically poor expats are running the country by paying the price hike in every thing. Kuwaitis are copying the Saudis policies in term of taxes, but Saudi people are hard working.

Saudi''s decision of family tax backfired and hurt its economy big time. Scores of flats/homes got empty and lost rental income. Hopefully Kuwait will learn a lesson of not imposing tax on expats in a bid to boost non-oil revenue.

Dear friends
I would like inform you that the tax which the Kuwait government want to impose on expertriat is only the person who are getting more than KD1000. Even though they will impose only 2.5% for each remittance for KD1000, the person who are sending money to his family.

Shame on Kuwait!!! It looks as if Kuwait has no way of making money except to put their hands into the beggar''s pocket for their survival. Shame!! Shame on Kuwait!!! Taxing expats to sustain the economy of Kuwait...what a ridiculous solution!!! If tomorrow all the expats are gone...who will Kuwait tax?!!! Real foolish solution. Mr. Almulla doesn''t want to loose his exchange business, so he cleverly proposed this foolish idea to Kuwait government. If Kuwait want to implement tax, it should first implement on all regardless of any nationality based on the amount of salary withdrawn. Does Kuwait have the guts to implement such a tax law on everyone?!!! And then Kuwait will witness all the citizens will be in front of the parliament protesting because of income tax implementation, cost of products going up...and what not!!!

God knows how this kind of ideas can come into anyone''s brain.
If people are not planning to remit any money but spend it here, how can they impose the "salary tax" from the salary deposits? Isn''t it a kind of income tax in the making?
God bless the expats from the onslaught of the "high-thinking" officials.
