ICSK- Senior Students at KNPC

“Field trips are opportunities for students to enter into the world of mystical power.” They are the experiences learned outside the walls of a classroom.

On 3rd January 2019, we, the students of ICSK Senior of class 11 studying the phenomenal and dynamic subject of Business Administration went for a field trip to one of the largest companies in the State of Kuwait, The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). The trip was a Job- Shadow program arranged by Mr. Abdullah from Injaz-Kuwait. We gathered in our campus at 8:00am and started from the school under the guidance of our teachers Mrs. Musarrat Parkar, Mrs. Jean Mary, Mrs. Rukhsana and Mr. Sreekumar. We reached our destination at around 8:45am. The main objective of the trip was to know about KNPC, its different products and various operational functions.

The KNPC Team welcomed us with great enthusiasm and presented us with small souvenirs. The gathering was addressed by Mrs. Fatema Suri, Head of the PR Department accompanied by Mr. Abdullah from Injaz. KNPC is one of the leading energy companies in the State of Kuwait focusing on downstream oil and gas operations committed to meeting the local and international demand in a sustainable manner. We were informed about KNPC’s 2040 strategic objectives, visions, and missions including superior operating world-class refineries, adding value to Kuwait hydrocarbons, producing high-quality fuels to meet the demands, operating assets to the highest, waste-water management and the sustainability of management.

We were informed about the crucial and important role of the Commercial Department of the company and introduced to the E-Sourcing Registration Process required for entering into contracts with the company providing the company with ease of doing business effectively throughout the world. The performance of the company was explained and the Team distributed the Sustainability Report of KNPC to everyone. We were given the opportunity to have an interactive session and we were very satisfied with the precise and clear answers given by Mrs. Fatema. The KNPC Products namely, crude oil, diesel, fuel oil, gasoline 91, gasoline 98, Sulphur, coke, naphtha, and jet fuel were displayed for us to take a closer look and take brief notes, while we enjoyed the delicious breakfast arranged by the company.

As the trip was nearing its end, a video explaining KNPC’s history and present situation was played informing us about the company’s influential and consistent performance throughout the years. At around 11:30am we started to head back for our school. This trip has not only increased our knowledge about KNPC, but also provided us with an experience of how business operations can be carried out successfully. We learnt to always be determined and devoted in whatever we choose to do with excellence.
