IES Celebrates World Hindi Diwas

World Hindi Diwas was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor on 10th of January 2019 at Indian Educational School, Kuwait. The venue for the celebration was the school auditorium. The auspicious day started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the Kuwait National Anthem and Hindi Prayer. Mrs. Swarna Saini, Head of Department of Hindi, IES spoke about the importance of Hindi language. Mrs. Annie Varghese, Manager of Ladder Play School was the chief guest for the day and Mrs. Sapna Joshi, Head of Department of Hindi, Kuwait Indian School was the guest of honour. The ceremonial lamp was lit by the chief guest, guest of honour, Mr.T.Premkumar, the Principal, IES, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Primary Wing, Mrs. Swarna Saini, Head of the Department of Hindi (Middle and Senior) and Mrs. Vijaya, Head of the Department of Hindi, Primary Wing. The celebration began with a mesmerizing invocation dance by the girls of grade 7 and 8. As part of the celebration the school also organized Interschool Story Telling Competition for Grades 3 and 4, and Interschool Nukkad Natak Competition titled ‘Logon mein anjan, main hum Kisan’ depicting the struggle of farmers in their day to day life. Students from 7 schools across Kuwait participated in the competitions.

Indian Educational School stood first in the grade 3 story telling competition, followed by Salmiya Indian Model School and United Indian School standing second and third respectively. United Indian School stood first in the grade 4 story telling competition, followed by Indian Community School Kuwait, Junior and Indian Community School Kuwait, Amman standing second and third respectively. Fahaheel Al Watanieh Indian Private School stood first in the Nukkad Natak competition, followed by Indian Educational School and United Indian School bagging the second and third prizes respectively.

To make the day more colourful and memorable, students of IES presented many cultural programs. Grade 1 and 2 students sang a song “Chodo kal ki baatein, baatein hain purani” and, it was well-appreciated by the audience. Students from Grades 2, 4 and 5 enthralled the audience by dancing to many a popular song. Nathan of grade 4 sang a melodious Hindi song. Manha of grade 5 did a standup comedy show and her funny advertisement theme kept the audience riveted to the performance. In the ensuing prize distribution ceremony winners were accorded trophies and certificates by the chief guest and the guest of honour in the presence of the principal and the judges. The adjudicators extolled all the participants of the different competitions and congratulated them for their excellent performance making it a hard task for them to crown the best. The emcees for the day were Aditi and Mumtaz Anjum of grade 9. In connection with the World Hindi Diwas, the Embassy of India in Kuwait conducted Hindi Essay Writing Competition. IES sent the best three essays and the participants to the Embassy to represent the school. The three students who won prizes in the essay writing competition are: (First) Alicia Rose Sebastian of Class 9A, (Second) Sreelakshmi Santhosh of class 9A and (Third) Yash Somavanshi of class 9A.
