Kuwaitis and residents spent KD 23 billion last year

Kuwaitis and residents spent KD 23 billion in one year by using credit cards. According to report, 8% of the transactions were made overseas.

The number of credit cards used was 4.8 million, to make 234 million transactions at points of sale in 12 months and 97 million in ATM machines.

These figures reflect a huge jump in the use of credit cards both in terms of value and number of transactions inside and outside Kuwait.

They will witness a drop in this usage in the coming year as more and more establishments are now a days refusing to accept credit card, see the example of petrol pumps where only KNETs are allowed.

The banks however should reduce the bank charges on usage of credit card right now which is roughly @2% per transaction.
