Rad Belgrade stadium temporarily closed over racist insults

Rad Belgrade stadium temporarily closed over racist insults

The stadium of Serbian football club Rad Belgrade has been temporarily closed due to persistent racist chants by a group of fans against a Brazilian player.

Rad fans chanted racist slurs against FK Partizan Brazilian player Everton Luiz in a Serbian league match on Sunday, local media reported, reports Efe.

The Brazilian, who joined Partizan last year, was subjected to monkey noises, jeers and other abuse, including a racist banner in the stands.

The closure of the stadium was ordered on Monday by Serbian league director Vladimir Bulatovic and will remain closed until a final decision is issued by the Football Association of Serbia.

Partizan condemned the act, considering that it was not only racist, but also represents an act of hatred against Partizan and all the citizens of Serbia.
