No. You have to go to the RTO personally. Next year you can renew it after paying a fine. If 5 years lapse after the expiry a fresh driving test has to be taken.

@Jolly - He is not going to learn driving. Why do you have to contact driving school. Its easy when you go next time go to RTO office and ask for renew. Very simple. Only you need to pay fine but it you lapse 5 years then it can not be renewed.

You can fill the necessary application forms online and print copy affix recent photos and send to any relatives or any agent in your region. After one week new DL will receive by post at your given Indian Address. In case, eye test required, go to any Vision/Optical Center and check your eye sight and fill the form, and stamp/sign by them. It is simple and easy. OR You can renew when your next visit.

Now eye test is must,I dont know they are accepting Eye test cirtificate from here, any way thank you very much for your useful comments.
