Dear Teachers

Dear Teachers

What position does a person who has witnessed your achievements and disappointments, your mischiefs and actions of obedience, laughter on the back bench as well as your loud cries on the first day when you did not want to leave your mother’s hand, hold?

Teachers, what a beautiful word. Is it only said so because they educate us in their respective subjects at set time in a day? I beg to differ. I believe that it is so as they prepare us for our lives. They not only play a vital role in our studies but also contribute to our up-bringing as equally as our parents.

They share their values and experiences and hence stimulate the same in us. A good teacher is not one who put their thoughts in the students, but one who tells them their point of view and asks them to form their own opinions and therefore learn to think and acquire knowledge themselves.

In my 14 years of student life, I have come across numerous teachers, and many of them have left their mark upon my heart. Their way of teaching, and some of their sentences and method of talking, walking, etcetera are still embedded in my mind.

I remember my science teacher back in 6th grade explaining the behavior of electrons, with a very peculiar example and now in 12th grade I still use that approach while studying.

May it be various chemicals or mathematical equations, a velocity-time graph or python programs, a poem or a history lesson, teachers are really extraordinary beings. They can mold a student into becoming the best version of themselves while going about their lives as if they are currently not changing hundreds and thousands of lives.

In the end now, I would like to say that I believe that teachers hold a position that has not yet been discovered. There might be a rough idea of it though. Somewhere between a parent and that one amazing person that God sends your way to brighten up your life.
