“My nation's flag is my pride and symbol of freedom”

Hello there readers! Today we are going to see the importance of Independence Day.

WHAT AND WHY INDEPENDENCE DAY?

India celebrated their first independence day on 15th August 1947 and this day remarks the 76th Independence Day. This spectacular day reminds us of the great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose and so on. Their life inspires us to fight for our country and stay in unity in all circumstances. We ought to never forget the moral values of India.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF 15 AUGUST IN THE HISTORY OF INDIA?

On 15 August 1947, India became independent from the British Empire following the Independence Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi.

WHAT IS BEING DONE ON THIS DAY?

On this auspicious day, our honorable Prime Minister will unfurled the national flag at Red Fort in New Delhi while reciting our National anthem which is Jana - Gana – Mana. And the minister will give his speech which includes the past on how our leaders fought for us, the present on our goal and the future on our vision for better India.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE WORD “TIRANGA”?

In the national flag of India the top band is of Saffron color, indicating the strength and courage of the country. The white middle band indicates peace and truth with Dharma Chakra. The last band is green in color shows the fertility, growth and auspiciousness of the land.

QUOTES SAID BY FAMOUS FREEDOM FIGHTERS ON THIS DAY

1.Rabindranath Tagore:

“Where the mind is without fear

and the head is held high,

Where knowledge is free.

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow

domestic walls,

Where words come out from the depth of truth,

Where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection.

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit.

Where the mind is led forward by thee.

2.BR Ambedkar: “Freedom of mind is the real freedom. A person, whose mind is not free though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man. One, whose mind is not free, though he may not be in prison, is a prisoner and not a free man. One whose mind is not free though alive, is no better than dead. Freedom of mind is the proof of one's existence.”

3.Mahatma Gandhi: "Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life. What would a man not pay for living?"

4.Chandra Shekhar Azad: "Dushman ki goliyon ka hum samna karenge, Azad hee rahein hain, Azad hee rahenge"

5.Ramprasad Bismil: “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil me hai, dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qaatil me hai”

6.Subhash Chandra Bose: “Tum Muje Khoon Do, Mai Tumhe Azadi Dunga”

7.Bal Gangadhar Tilak: "Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it"

8.Bhagat Singh: “Inquilab Zindabad”

9.Lal Bahadur Shastri: "Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan"

10.Bankim Chandra Chatterjee: "Vande Mataram"

I’ll conclude by saying that the We, the people of India should be thankful to those who fought for the independence of their country.

Thank you!~
