Diwali :- The festival of lights

Diwali - the festival of lights, joy, happiness and festival of the victory of good over evil is celebrated every year between October and November. In my point of view, Diwali is one of the most beautiful and wonderful festivals in India. As we all know, India is the 'land of diversity' because we celebrate different festivals, and practice different religions, traditions and many more.

During Diwali, people clean their houses and decorate their home by using various lights and cook delicious sweets, burst crackers, share gifts and wear new clothes. Everyone used to wait for the festival after dussehra to light up their diyas and children also wait to burn firecrackers and will enjoy it with their friends and relatives. It is also known as Deepawali which means series of lights. When I was small, I used to ask my mother and grandmother about this festival and why people lit diyas and burst firecrackers. They told me about the victory of light over darkness. And the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana, gaining the victory of good over evil. And we are lighting diyas and burning firecrackers to celebrate this victory. Diwali is a five-day long festival. They also taught me that we should also try to spread some goodness by distributing sweets and gifts among the poor and needy.

Diwali is a glorious festival which brings prosperity and removes all feelings of hatred from people's hearts. During this marvelous festival, people also donate money or their old things as a charity, because many people who are poor and needy maybe cannot afford these things to buy. I also have a habit of donating my things to charities.

As we know, two years back, because of a coronavirus, people were struck inside their houses and cannot celebrate Diwali and any other festivals. We couldn't light diyas and burst crackers, childrens were sitting at home and wished their friends. Due to this a lot of changes came into being, our environment remained clean and healthy. As in the past, everyone used to burst firecrackers and this caused air and sound pollution. We can use natural colors using food items, instead of using various chemical colors which can cause allergies and pollution. We should celebrate Diwali in such a manner where our environment is not damaged or destroyed. In my opinion, we should use natural flowers such as petals of jasmine, rose, daisy and marigold. My sister, brother and I used to make a competition between us to see who would make better Rangoli. At last we will together make the best rangoli design.

We people of India should celebrate Diwali without harming our motherland or environment. But we should also celebrate Diwali with joy, happiness, peace and prosperity or else the feel of Diwali would not be ethical.
