We know grandparents as symbols of wisdom; they speak from experience and tell us how to progress in life. They

may not be up to date in matters of science and other branches of knowledge but they would have been through the 'school of hard knocks.' It is grandparents who tell us that though money and other symbols of wealth are nice to have, the real values in life are of the non-material kind.

Grandparents are like shady trees that always shower their shades on their grandchildren. They are always filled with love and warmth for their grandchildren and can never see them crying or hurt. Grandparents are the happiest people when they see their grandchildren bringing laurels and excel in life.

Qualities of grandparents which make them very dear to us:

1. Patience: They have lots of time for their grandchildren and listen to them patiently without getting angry. They are patient listeners.

2. Time: They are ready to spend lots of quality time with their grandchildren and this gives them a lot of joy.

3. Love: They are the people with loads of love for their grandchildren. Their love is unconditional and loving their grandchildren is their only job in life.

4. Knowledge: They are the ones who impart moral values to the kids through the media of story and tales.

5. Care: They care a lot for their grandchildren and also protect them from their parents and cover up all their mistakes and protect their grandchildren at all times.

6. Friendly: They are our best friends as they are always ready to play with their grandchildren and we can share all our secrets with them.

So they are the most precious gifts in our life. In America 9th September is celebrated as ‘GRANDPARENTS DAY’. But I feel everyday is grandparents day and it is our duty also to obey, love and care for them.

I would take this opportunity to say something about my grandparents. They are the best people on this earth whom I have ever come across and I am blessed to have such good and loving grandparents. They stay with me in Kuwait and have been with me right from my birth. They are like parents to me. My grandmother makes delicious food for me, helps me in my lessons and advices me to be good. My grandfather is the best. Whatever toys and gadgets I have is gifted by him. He always motivates me in cricket and rewards me for my achievements. He has taken me for many holiday trips to almost all parts of the world. They are the world to me. I thank god for me giving me such great grandparents and I also make them feel proud by doing my work responsibly and by winning many prizes which makes them proud. They are the motivating force behind all my achievements. I will be indebted to them all my life and pray to God to bless them with a long and healthy life.
