India – Champions Of Champions

Today every heart beats with Blue.

It all started off for India by winning the inaugural ICC World Twenty 20 in 2007 when India won the Twenty 20 World Cup. Then India became the No 1 Test team in 2009.

To follow was the ICC World Cup 2011 and then India became the No 1 ODI team in 2013.

And now to add the icing to the cake it’s the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

All these achieved under the leadership of one hero known as captain cool – MS Dhoni who has achieved all the major titles in Cricket and became the only captain to do so.

In this ICC Champions Trophy, India went with an underdog squad leaving all greats and going with the youth. The result is not something unknown.

With an enthusiastic, determined, hardworking squad India unknowingly had one of the best teams ever.

With brilliant fielders (Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma), stunning Batsmen (Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli), the best wicketkeeper MS Dhoni and the young but fantastic bowlers(Umesh Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin, R Jadeja, MS Dhoni) India were truly played like Champions.

Let’s take a brief look of the contributions of some of the players that resulted in the victory of India.

The main reason for their success was that each individual played to the best of his potential under quality leadership.

MS Dhoni was the man who contributed the most with his brilliant keeping, powerful hitting, brave thinking and the most important fact which led to our victory was his cool and calm attitude even under pressurized situations. The captain was always ready to support his young guns at every step. In the match against Sri Lanka, MSD introduced himself to bowling in order to keep the Lankan Lions quiet in a pitch that didn’t support spin but supported swing. He has been praised for his captaincy by all former cricketers and even current West Indian captain, Dwayne Bravo.

Shikhar Dhawan – The winner of the Golden Bat and the Man of the Tournament was brilliant in batting and provided a good start that helped the middle order to capitalize on.

Ravindra Jadeja- The winner of the golden ball and the Man Of The Match in the Finals proved his worth with his fabulous bowling and handy batting.

R. Ashwin and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar were spot on with very cheap economy rates which put the opposition under pressure and helped others to pick up wickets. R Ashwin bowled the last and crucial over in the Final. Bhuvaneshwar on the other hand made the bowl swing early in the innings and caught the batsman trapped without conceding runs. He ended up with an economy rate of about 4 in the whole tournament.

A squad without big names such as Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar has still managed to prove its worth.

This Indian team is similar to the movie Avengers in which every character plays his part perfectly.

‘A perfectly balanced side, excelling in all departments ‘would be what I would call it.

Me, being a big cricket fan, it was a delight to watch my home side lifting the cup. I was overjoyed at the moment and was also much tensed when the Final was going on.

But Alls Well That Ends Well.

I would like to congratulate the Indian Team for displaying such a marvelous performance and winning the Champions Trophy .I would like to wish them all the best for their upcoming tournaments.

East Or West India Is The Best.
