PUNCTUALITY-

Are we among those people who never arrive at places on the correct time? Do we find ourselves being late in almost all of the appointments and meetings? Has our reputation in our business work gone just due to our unpunctuality? If so we have to stop this type of behavior immediately. Because such habit can make people derive negative opinions about our personality and they start doubting our sincerity towards work.

Punctuality is a habit which must be cultivated by every cultured person. It is the mark of civilization and culture. It has the 'soul of business'. In our daily life, we have many meetings, appointments as well as some tasks that have been given to us. And being late in completing them or failing to reach the respective place of work on time will make you suffer in practical life and we will get a bad name. Nelson Mandela used to say that he owed his success in life due to punctuality. If a man has various duties to attend, he must be punctual. Otherwise his life will be failure. We should plan our time according to the job assumed and should complete it in the given sphere of time. Punctuality plays a major role not only in the life of a student but also in the life of all the people who are engaged in some professions. It's not an easy thing to be punctual. It requires a man all the energy to regulate his life, if he wants to be punctual in every business. Unpunctuality invites trouble and worry. A man who is punctual and keeps his appointment is sure to be held in high esteem then others. Everyone will have confidence and will trust him because he keeps his words. Sometimes people loose golden opportunities in life due to being late by just few minutes. Punctuality is necessary habit in all public affairs of civilized life. Without it nothing could ever be brought to a conclusion, everything would be in a state of chaos. Punctuality is one of the seven virtues in man.

Now I would share my personal experience with regard to punctuality. This was the time when I was in class 4th. I had joined UCMAS which was a Chinese arithmetic Abacus course. This course taught us all about the ways of making math's easy by calculating through the Abacus. This was a class which was held every Saturday. I attended the class regularly and was punctual in all the home works which was given by my teacher. As I was punctual in my work and did the work on the same day without any delay, this lead to my regular practice and I was able to do the sums of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division at high speed! My teacher was very happy with me and selected me for various demonstrations in many schools. Not only this, but also I was selected among the 7 students in my batch and we were taken to Malaysia for the international level competition of UCMAS. And there also I achieved a position. Then again there was a national competition held here in Kuwait and I had secured a gold medal. I was really happy for achieving this much and would firstly thank my parents for supporting me every time and giving me the confidence to complete all the 10 levels of this course. And I would also thank my teachers who helped me in improving myself and exposing my talents. So all whatever I had achieved was due to my punctual behavior towards a given work and I am really glad to have this quality.

A punctual person is appreciated because he knows that time is precious as ''Time and Tide waits for no man''. And if a person is unpunctual it shows that either he is unprofessional or has no value for his as well as the other people's time. This questions his reputation also. Unlike an unpunctual person, a punctual person is valued and respected in the society. Now the question arises is that how can we be punctual? We know that adopting this habit is difficult but not impossible. If we have the determination and positive thinking that ''I can do it'', then everything will turn in your favor. So here are some tips to improve your punctuality to the highest level:

* Firstly we should value time. The day we realize its importance, we will stop wasting it. Remind to ourselves the worth of time.

*Secondly we should manage time accordingly. Apart from knowing the importance of time, we should know how to utilize it efficiently. Clubbing many tasks for the same time never works it will just lead to spoiling the work. Practice listing works according to their importance and complete it in the given time accordingly. Never follow the last minute work because this will never help us achieve success in our life.

* Thirdly we should stick to our priorities. Change in priorities at the last minute is not a good habit. Make sure that first we do the important tasks and then keep ourselves busy in the leisure activities in our spare time but only after the main task is over.

*And lastly make punctuality the major priority of life and the root of all tasks. For e.g: many people who turn up late for appointments don't realize that they create a negative impression in others mind.

So in the end, I would like to tell the readers that punctuality is the basic pathway in every profession whether it be a student, teacher, doctor, businessmen etc. Only if we regard punctuality as an important concern in our life we will be able to make sure that time never runs out of our hand and will see that success will come jumping towards us!!! So let us be punctual in everything we do and then see the result in front of us and that's the reason why punctuality is called the ''SOUL OF ANY PROFESSION'' and I am sure that after reading this article we all will try our level best to follow punctuality as a part of our daily routine.
