The Restaurant “Rangoli” gives the true meaning of Rangoli, a colourful Indian art form that expresses warm hospitality and enhances the beauty of the surrounding by spreading joy all around using vibrant colours. Rangoli the Indian Restaurant at Radisson Blu Hotel incorporates this Indian art form with colourful décor and a range of aroma and taste that entice our senses into an unforgettable experience. Wednesday evening’s at Rangoli is mainly dedicated to Indian culinary which takes us to a journey to enjoy the finest quality of food stylishly prepared with live Indian Traditional Instrumental Music.

The minute we walked in Rangoli, we were soaked in magnificent majestic; such is the vibe of this restaurant. It is built under the Alboom restaurant (boom means big ship). The original ship which is used as another restaurant at Radisson Blu was brought from India. Since it’s at the lower structure of the boom the restaurant’s dining area is split in half. As we entered, the live Indian classic instrumental music welcomes us to the world of Rangoli. Artists were exhibiting their exceptional talents live on the sitar and tabla. Colourful Jodpuri and Rajastani wall arts added unimaginable feeling to the Indian buffet dinner. The private rooms and cabins were decorated with deep hues which were incorporating the restaurant’s name.

“Rangoli” simply captivates you with its quaint settings and spacious interiors. While entering to the dining hall, there is an art form of Rangoli not of colours but of Indian Garam masalas that expressed the Indian warm hospitality.

We were seated in the centre of the restaurant. One side was the dining area with live music and the other side was the colourful private rooms, a tastefully arranged buffet and bar counter. We began our gastronomic expedition with a complimentary appetizer and drink that was served specially to all guests. What we saw in front of us was a combination of veg spring rolls and onion bajji with red chilli sauce which was perfect to set our taste buds rolling. Drink was ice tea with honey, the perfect drink to start off with.

While we savoured the extremely soft and delicious appetizer, it was time to binge on the starters, the buffet that lay in front of us looked extremely tempting and we seriously couldn’t wait to dig in. After all it was all things Indian and Chinese. There were variety of starters to choose from cold starters - Chicken with soy & Sesame, pink grapefruit platter, Chinese seafood salad offered a taste-explosion of Thai flavor, paneer tikka a mouth-watering Indian starter, mixed garden salad cool crisp salad with a great tangy dressing, Jhingha chat patta (shrimps) baby shrimps sautéed with a mixture of spices, and a sweet and tangy sour sauce and etc. The hot starters were Punjabi Samosa and vegetable spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce. We tried some of them which gave us an exciting treat.

For main course steamed rice, Singaporean noodles with vegetables, chicken butter masala, tandoori fish, jeera aloo - A simple yet irresistible dish of potatoes spiced with cumin seeds, dal makhni- is delicacy from Punjab where dal cooked on low flame which gives it a rich, creamy texture, Navarathan kurma - delicious Mughlai dish where nine different veggies, fruit and nuts are used in it, lamb biryani etc. Even they had live cooking station: Grill from where we tried masala grilled chicken skewer was so moist, flavoursome.

Then came the best part the desserts white chocolate mousse with star anise, gulab jamun, caramelized coconut crepes, rasa malai etc which gave us a perfect ending for the splendid meal.

The live Indian music with songs like kuch kuch hota hai, suraj hua matham on the backdrop gave us a memorable and delicious dining experience at Rangoli.

No doubt that Rangoli is a place to enjoy food and revitalizing cocktails while relaxing to the sound of live music. A perfect revival of true colours. Rangoli offers Spice Route Buffet every Wednesday with the finest dishes from India and China by Chefs from their very famous Peacock Chinese restaurant and Rangoli’s Indian Chefs.
