PART 1

HELLOOOO! To all the readers , I am SOAHOM GUHA of class 7 . I want tell you about my adventures in SINGAPORE and MALAYSIA which we visited in the last SUMMER VACATION.

We planned this trip because we wanted to escape the scorching heat in KUWAIT. First we went to KOLKATA, from there we went to KUALA LUMPUR, THE CAPITAL OF MALAYSIA. On first day we had planned to go to K.L.TOWER but it was under renovation. So we went to “CHINA TOWN”. It was like the INDIAN BAZZARS except the shopkeepers were CHINESE, the goods were fake and costly. The locals say that we need to bargain a lot to buy any item. Next, we went to a cultural restaurant. It was like a thatched hut. From there, we could see the PETRONAS TOWER. It was slowly becoming dark and the “PETRONAS TOWER” showed its real beauty. We had our dinner while watching the Malay cultural programs. The dancers were performing their skills very nicely. We took some snaps of the dancers.

The next day, we went to the “GENTING HIGHLANDS”. It is located 1,800 m. above the sea level. There was an amazing, huge hotel named “THE FIRST WORLD HOTEL”. It holds a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD of ‘WORLD’S LARGEST HOTEL’ having more than 6000 rooms! There were many thrilling rides inside the Theme Park near the hotel! There were many amazing, thrilling and breathtaking roller coasters! We came to the foot of GENTING HIGHLANDS by rope way. ONE MUST NOT FORGET TO VISIT SUCH A EXOTIC PLACE ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN!

The next fine morning, we went for the city tour . First we went to the BATU CAVES, there was a huge giant statue of LORD SHIVA. It was painted in golden colour. The colour was bought all the way from THAILAND! It just looked liked the HINDU TEMPLES. The next we went was the ROYAL SELANGOR, which also holds a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD of building the ‘WORLD’S LARGEST TANKARD” in PEWTER’ being the largest Pewter Company in the World, founded back in 1885. By the way, do you know, what is Pewter? It is the amalgamation of Tin, Antimony and Copper. The Academy Award is a 3.85 kg gold-plated pewter statuette. The next exotic place was a CHINESE TEMPLE. Our guide showed the GODS AND GODDESS. They pray to their GODS AND GODDESS in a different style . I just tried the customs but they were very hard . It is said that tortoise are kept as pets to scare the spirits. We went to the PETRONAS TOWERS. It is the world’s tallest twin-towers with 88 storied high! Its cool isn’t it ? We also tried the traditional “SATAY” with fish and some noodles on top of it. “SATAY” is a dish with chicken and some traditional spices. I also learnt that MALAYASIA is a mixed state. There are Malays ( the locals ) , Chinese , Islamic Indonesians and you will be surprised to know that there Indians too. The night life and the shopping malls are really cool and awesome . KUALA LUMPUR is fully filled with skyscrapers and in the night it is like a city dazzling with light with tall skyscrapers . We took a day off for the shopping but the next day was really very hectic. We went to Malacca, which is the UNESCO’s WORLD HERITAGE SITE . The Malacca is a historic place. Here we went on the Trishaw which was totally of Rickshaw with colorful decoration. We had a jolly ride . Then we went to see the monuments . The ruins of the monuments showed the true Malaysian history. The Malaysian History told that Malaysia suffered a lot of threats from the Japanese during the WORLD WAR II .

The next fine morning, we had to catch a bus and to reach SINGAPORE . OH! I forgot to tell you that MALAYSIA is known as “LAND OF RASA SAYANG “as this is a land of cultural fusion between Malays, Chinese, Indian and Europeans to create “Rasa Sayang” – a feeling of Love!
