Tuesday, August 7, 2012

The ministry of social affairs and labor will soon lay down new rules for issuance of work permits to expatriate workers in accordance with the actual manpower needs of the country, local daily Arab Times reported citing Al Seyassah.

Under the new rule, the expatriate workers will be subjected to a series of test to determine their competency level. They should also submit certificate providing they are fit to work in Kuwait, daily reported.

The ministry is currently studying the possibility of establishing a government office for the recruitment of the expatriate workers to ensure the qualification of those who will be hired match the actual need of the companies or institutions, daily added.

The contract between the office and the employer will include criteria for recruitment such as the field of specialization and years of work experience, in addition to the salary.

Work permit will be issued to the expatriate who hold certificate in the required field of specialization and technical skill as stated by the ministerial decision, daily added.

Sources said the above mentioned steps are aimed at limiting the marginal workers and create more job opportunity for the citizens.
