Women are a miracle of divine contradictions. It means women are beautiful, delightful, magnificent and pleasant and can be compared with a deity due their qualities. God has gifted women with compassion, tender-heartedness, caring nature and concern for others. These are very positive signs which imply that women can be leaders. Though some women have shown their mettle yet a large number of them have to sharpen their leadership qualities in various ways. In order to help women to be in limelight, they need to be empowered. Empowerment of women is the prerequisite to transform a developing country into a developed country. In our country India Women are worshipped as-Lakshmi (Money), Durga (Strength), Saraswati (Knowledge).

Today there is no field where women have not achieved success. Some of them are

Mrs. Pratibha Patil - Our Ex-President.
Mrs.Kiran Bedi - The first IPS women officer.
Kalpana Chawla - Who has made her entry into space.
Sunita Williams – Who has just completed her 5th Space Walk.

Today no longer women are confined to the four walls of the house. A boy child and a girl child both are given equal opportunities. The fundamental right to education is no longer only in words, it is in action. The government provides free education for girls up to the age of 14 and further reduction in fees to promote female education. Female infanticide is banned. Sex determination of a baby before birth or during pregnancy is an offence. We should not look down upon girls.Sania Mirza has excelled in tennis, Saina Nehwal in badminton ,has won India a bronze medal in the Olympics 2012 and more women have excelled in other sports and various other fields. So why not other girls? So we should support our female classmates in achieving success and should motivate them as we would motivate ourselves. The Government has also passed a law against Domestic violence to respect their individuality and give them respect in the society.

Put the pledge of India into action.

“All Indians are my brothers and sisters”

No one is superior; all are equal before the law.

Here are some quotes:

“A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform child.” ~Diane Marie
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started”. Sally Berger

Educational attainment and economic participation are the key constituents in ensuring the empowerment of women. Educational attainment is essential for empowering women in all spheres of society, for without education progress is not possible. If women are updated with existing knowledge that is relevant to the current needs, women will be able to have better access to well-paid formal sector jobs and can compete with men. The economic empowerment of women is a vital element for strong economic growth in any country. Empowering women enhances their ability to influence changes and to create a better society.]

It is also wisely said that behind every successful man is a woman.

Some qualities to be acquired by women to become truly empowered are awareness about risk prevailing at home, in work place, in traveling and staying outside home. They should have political, legal, economic and health awareness. They should have knowledge about support groups and positive attitudes towards life. They should get goals for future and strive to achieve them with courage. The best gift parents today can give to their daughters is education. If women choose to be ignorant then all the efforts taken by the Government and women activists will go in vain. Even in twenty-fifth century, they will remain backward and will be paying a heavy price for their dependence. So, it is a wake-up call for women to understand the true meaning of their empowerment. In the end I would like to conclude with the following words, "Women as the motherhood of the nation should be strong, aware and alert".
