Build career according to aptitude: BS Warrier

A student has passed the high school certificate, higher secondary school certificate or any degree courses. What is next? BS Warrier, the eminent career guru advises the students to learn the subject of their aptitude and build the career accordingly.
He, an expert in education, throughout the world, denies ''personal consultation''. Even at the age of 76, the well read man is too busy giving talks, writing columns on the mainstream media in India and abroad. Warrier, a noted columnist in the mainstream media at India, who was here at Kuwait last week for addressing students at the United Indian School, Abbassiya. Amid his schedules in Kuwait, he spoke to Indiansinkuwait.
Every parent wants their kid cater the level he couldn’t attain. They make their dreams come true with their children. So kids will either become an engineer or a doctor. They don’t realise the ability and the skill of their kids and they even try to copy others.
People with more digital experience are out of the digital divide and they have more advantage over the others. The parents with more experience, reading and otherwise, know the value of courses and nurture the skills of their children. He opines that they recognise the importance of developing the career of their kids, adding to their talent.
Many students learn engineering, either due to parental pressures or social pressures. The engineering colleges are mushrooming, especially in south India. Those colleges don’t produce original engineers. While, the seats offered at medical colleges are too less, and so the students join after paying high capitation fee. The doctors that come out from these professional organisations are not committed and they work for money, he tells IIK.
He remembers Dr Pai, retired, at the medical college of Thiruvananthapuram, who is dedicated and he knew the psychology of his patients. ''Rarely do such doctors exist now''.How many does know the real value of social science sectors? His column on research in social science at the hindu is much appreciated. The awareness on financial sectors is low too.
Apart from his column 'guidance plus' in Education Plus, the hindu, he has published enormous articles on technology, science, applied economics and other subjects of social relevance. He has completed ''108 columns'' on research in the Hindu. He is a regular writer in globally acclaimed journals also. Studying abroad- all you wanted to know, steps to your dream career, learn faster learn better, are some among his twelve books, published.
The past 24 years, after retiring as an electrical engineer, he has been bestowing the youngsters and their parents with the best of career guidance. He also contributed to the Malayalam daily, the mathrubhumi and Indian Express. On the Malayalam TV Asianet, he presented a guidance programme every week. ''Now I write for 'The Hindu' and the Malayalam daily the 'Malayala Manorama, and occasionally in some globally acclaimed media''.
He is graduated in Electrical engineering at the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram in 1958. Basically from Thiruvananthapuram, he is now settled in Cochin.He is acclaimed by the various institutions and the government. Science Journalism award of Kerala Government (1993), Kavyavedi award (2004), and more were conferred for his service to the society. And now he is identified with the word 'career guidance'.
