Lovely reception and lobby, artistically decorated with 2 golden horse statues welcomes you to the world of Indian cuisine at Oriental Restaurant located in the first floor of Salmiya Commercial Complex. The interior is dominated by metallic gold and yellow, creating calm and relaxing sensations. Centre of the restaurant was the dining area and it was surrounded on 3 sides by Family Cabins which had 2 to 8 seating capacity. There is a beautiful small aquarium in the restaurant which can be enjoyed while dinning. The restaurant is totally elegant for it is well decorated and is furnished with excellent pieces of furniture.
The food at the restaurant offers something for just about everyone… even a vegetarian and they are extremely mouth-watering.

We opted for a round table with a long sofa on one side so that we can relax and enjoy our culinary journey. Their sumptuous a- la- carte menu has a fantastic array of dishes on offer. One look at the menu and I knew I was going to have a great lunch. Variety to choose from and we just got lost. Steward guided us along and helped us to choose the specialities that they offer.

We ordered some soups and starters before we could relish into our main course. Chicken Manchow Soup, Chicken Lung Fung Soup, Finger Fish and Hara Bara Kabab. Chicken Lung Fung Soup had boiled chicken and Egg on top. It was unique in taste, delicious and we just loved it. The way the starters were presented, it set up mood to eat and I totally loved it. Finger Fish was served with French Fries and Mayonnaise Sauce. Hara Bara Kabab was different here with a unique taste. Both tasted awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed the starters.

By this time we were full but when the main courses came they were appetizing. We were tempted to have some prawn’s dish, so we ordered Prawn's - Do- Pyaza - Tossed with red & white onion shellotes with selected condements cooked in light spiced gravy. Also we ordered Fish Tikka Masala - Charcoal grilled fish cooked in a mild tomato cream sauce, Chicken Amritsari - A house speciality of Aromatic herbs and spices of Punjab in a thick tomato gravy, for veg we ordered Navratan Korma -Selection of nine vegetable in a rich garnished & white gravy. For rice we ordered Kashmiri Pulao and Mixed Bread Basket to have with our main courses.

The prawns were superb. Navratan Korma is a sweet dish and people with sweet taste buds will surely love this. It not only had vegetables but also fruits with white gravy which gave it a rich taste. It was unique and something new to our taste buds. Kashmiri pulao was aromatic, mild, sweet and colourful. Unlike other pulaos this one was on the sweeter side. Pulao was garnished with both dry fruits and fresh fruits. We just loved it. All dishes turned out to be excellent and were cooked to perfection.

The service was excellent, prompt and was presented in an elegant manner.

We came to know that the restaurant is open from 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM on all days. Reservations can be done only on weekdays. They even cater to outdoors for Birthday Parties or small functions.

This is a wonderful place to dine in. To summarize our dining experience it was exciting, memorable and very satisfying. Oriental restaurant is truly a fine dining and family place where you can enjoy a relaxing environment and eat some of the most exceptional cuisines.
