Indian expats come to Kuwait and fascinate the locals in several ways, through their hard work, dedication, peace loving nature, etc. Here is a trio who captivated the hearts of the Kuwaitis through the taste of Authentic Indian Cuisine.

The trio professionals Mr Ashok Karla, Mr Jatinder Suri and Mr Mukesh Kumar introduced Indian Mughlai Cuisine to Kuwait with the opening of their first Indian Restaurant 'Mughal Mahal'.

When they first introduced the Indian food in Kuwait, in the year 1985, little did they expect that it will make it a byword in the heart of the locals in the country.

Mughal Mahal Indian Restaurant which introduced Mughlai Cuisine gained its popularity among the Kuwaitis in 1993 after liberation of Kuwait. From then on majority of the Kuwaitis and expats visit the restaurant to have the Indian Cuisine.

Indian cuisine is known world over for its unmistakable spices, colour and taste. Indian dishes are always prepared with a lot of flavour and spices and one of the preferred cuisines by all.

"Indian Biryani became very popular among Kuwaitis as they are rice lovers and it resembles their food Majboos", said Mr Ashok Karla, Managing partner of Mughal Mahal. Majboos is a traditional Arabian Rice dish incorporating fish or meats. Mughal Mahal makes Indian Biryani with Long Grains specially imported from their own farms in India. It’s offered to the locals with less chilli and with curries. Indians eat Biryani with Curds but Kuwaitis prefer it with curries.

"It’s not only the Biryani, Kuwaiti people also loves Indian Curries, Grills, Kebabs, Sizzlers etc." said Mr Jatinder Suri, Partner and Director. "The vast spices available in India always fascinate the locals", he added. "We adapted the local culture and eating habits of the natives and prepared our cuisines accordingly," Mr Suri said.

Mughal Mahal restaurant were the first in Kuwait to start outside catering of Indian Cuisine. The Restaurant does catering to various Embassies in Kuwait, for Kuwaiti Marriages, at Diwaniya (a reception hall of Kuwaitis) etc.

"Several prominent Kuwaitis come to Mughal Mahal to relish the Indian taste," said Mr Mukesh Kumar, another partner of this restaurant. "It’s not just the Biryani, it’s the trust and image we built over the years, which makes Mughal Mahal a popular eating point for Kuwaitis when it comes to Indian food", he added.

Mughal Mahal has the privilege to serve Indian food to several Kuwaiti weddings, receptions, Ministries, embassies etc. Their visitors are not limited to ministers and sheikhs, who comes to their restaurants to enjoy the Indian feasts, but also the expatriates living here enjoys their taste bud with authentic Indian cuisines at Mughal Mahal.

For Indian expats, it is not just biryani, but Hyderabadi, Malabar, Chettinad, Mughalai and many more according to the ethnicity. But the Kuwaitis don’t differentiate. They just want Indian biryani.

As the management says, the art of serving people is not everyone's cup of tea. It takes more than ambience, more than just a smile. It takes very special warmth that lights up a service.. That is gracious and attentive coupled with amenities and discreteness. No doubt Mughal Mahal is the first choice for Kuwaitis when it comes to Indian food.
