Indian Overseas Congress conducted Arts competitions-2014

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) conducted its 8th Arts Festival for the Indian Community in Kuwait on 10th and 11th April 2014 at United Indian School, Abbasiya. The Programme was inaugurated by Mr. K.J John, Vice-president of IOC in a gathering presided over by Mr. John Abraham and attended by a crowd of Indians from various states of India. Mr. Somu Mathew, General Secretary and Tony Mathew falicitated on the occasion.


Various competitions were held on two days with lots of participation from children from all parts of Kuwait. The competitions started with the Classical Dance followed by Folk Dance, Mono act, Poster Poetry and Patriotic Song on the first day. The day long programmes continued on the second day also with drawing/painting, Elocution, Poetry recitation, Solo singing and concluded with Group Dance in the evening. The competions were conducted for different age groups on two different stages. Dignitaries and leaders of various Indian organizations visited the venue during this event and congratulated the winners and participants.


Complete results of all the items and groups were announced on the same day of the event after the Group Dance Competitions. The Special Memorial Award established in the name of Late Pala K.M Mathew, “Kalamayukha” declared awarded to Athira Ravi Prasad from Girls section and no one from boys section got “Kalasurya”. The prizes will be distributed on 10 Oct. 2014 during the annual celebrations of Indian Overseas Congress. The festival was concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr.. Raju Zacharias, General Convenor who expressed sincere thanks to the participants, parents, judges and the IOC volunbteers who contributed to the success of the event.
