North Kanara Association celebrated Feast & Independence Day

Friday, 15th August, 2014 was a memorable day for the members of North Kanara Association – Kuwait (NKA-K) who celebrated the Feast of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary as well as the Independence Day of our Mother India.

A Eucharistic celebration was offered by the Board members of NKA-K at St. Therese Church, Salmiya at 6.30pm and thereafter a festive reception was held at the residence of the President Mr. John Fernandes which was attended by a huge crowd. Prayers were recited which was led by Mr. Ashu Rodrigues and petitions were raised for various causes.

The guest of honor was Rev. Fr. Antony Lopez, OFM Cap., JCD., Eccl. Judge & Chancellor who graciously attended the function.

A game of Housie was conducted by Mr. Joseph Tellis, Asst. Sports Secretary along with Mr. Johnny Fernandes, Event Organizer, and this was played enthusiastically by all members and several prizes were distributed to the winners.

It was remarkable to note that some members of the Association both ladies and gents, joined together at the residence of Mr. Johnny Fernandes, to prepare the traditional sweet Patolis. A sumptuous festive dinner was served which was sponsored by some of the Board members and cooked by Mr. Joseph Fernandes and Mr. Leo Lopis. Rev. Fr. Anthony blessed the delicious food which was enjoyed by all members.

This was a true celebration to all bachelor members who were away from their families, who attended in large numbers and enjoyed a homely atmosphere. The celebration concluded by singing National Anthem to mark the Independence Day of India. The members departed with lingering memories until the next celebration. iend cheated on me
