Winners rejoice at IIK Diwali Mela 2014

Loads of surprise prizes and gift hampers made the winners to rejoice their efforts at IIK Diwali Mela 2014. Winners of various competitions like Rangoli competition, Diwali Mithai Contest , Fancy dress for kids and Inter School Lantern Competitions received their prizes at the IIK Diwali Mela on Friday, 17th October 2014.

Mrs Archana Subodh and Team bagged the First prize in the colorful Rangoli Competition sponsored by Hussain & Qaisar Int Ltd Co where as Mrs Mahalakshmi and team got the second prize. Winners received trophies from IIK and attractive gift hampers from the sponsor.



Mrs Laxmi Mishra got the first prize where as Mrs Jesny Shameer and Mrs Barnali Biswas got the second and third prize respectively in the delicious and creative Diwali Mithais competition at the ‘Holiday Inn - Jamawar Indian Restaurant Mithai Competition’. Holiday Inn - Jamawar Indian Restaurant officials handed over the prizes to the winners.

Colorful and attractive Diwali Lanterns made by the students of various Indian schools were exhibited at the Mela. IIK had held an Inter School Lantern Competition and the winners were felicitated at the Mela. Afia, student of Salmiya Indian Model School got the First Prize, Kaashvi Subin, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan got second prize and Varsha Amal , Indian Community School - Junior Branch got third prize. Winners received bags sponsored by High Sierra. The lanterns were so creative and colorful that the judges chose 9 consolation prizes. The winners of the consolation prizes were Reia Panesar of Fahaheel Al-Watanieh Indian Private School DPS Kuwait, Sunainaa. M of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Parvathi Madhu of Carmel School, Aysha Zehrin of Indian Central School, Shriya Dinesh of Indian Community School Kuwait- Junior, Ramprakash of Salmiya Indian Model School, Vijay Anant of Gulf Indian School, Malith, Hamza Shafia, Hamza Masood, Sherin, Nawal of Kuwait Indian School and Kendrick D'Costa of Carmel School.

Fancy dress competition below 7 and above 7 was another attraction at the Diwali Mela. The enthusiasm and zeal with which the children and their parents participated and performed was extremely commendable. Below 7 category Jazael Mathews got First Prize where as Anusha Pereira and Arjun Rajagopal got second and third prize respectively. Above 7 category Swastik Goth got first prize where as Joel Joseph Mathews and Sanskar Mishra got second and third prize respectively. Winners received watches sponsored by Tik Tok.

1st and 2nd prize winners of all competitions received Trophies and 3rd Prize winners received medals sponsored by Prospots.

The Main Sponsor for the Mela is Tik Tok. Al Muzaini Exchange Co. & American Tourister are the Gold Sponsors. Associate sponsors are Kuwait Automotive Import Co, KDD - Provita, Oriental Insurance , Shifa Al Jazeera and Abbott Nutrition.

More than 5000 crowd gathered at the IIK Diwali Mela, which marked one of its kind celebration among the Indian community in Kuwait.
