Maurya Kala Parisar celebrated “Maurya Manch 2014”

The hall was full to the capacity with audience enjoying themselves on the quality of entertainment offered, the event was inaugurated by the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, HE Sri Sunil Jain and the program started on time and flowed. These were the ingredients, which made “Maurya Manch 2014” a variety show presented by Maurya Kala Parisar, Kuwait on the evening of Friday, November 21, 2014, at Indian Embassy (Kuwait) Auditorium, a huge success. Well critics are critics. Even after two and half hours, they remained glued to seats and said time was less. They wanted more.

Highlights of the show were “Ankhiyaan Bhool Gayee hain Sona” a folk dance by Divya Ritwik, Asha Mishra Supriya Singh Sweta Shruti, Suchitra Deo and Sruti Kumar and “Ek Chatura Nar” famous Mahmood –Kishore classic re-enacted by Santosh Chauhan and Rakesh Mishra. On the Bhojpuri number by Rakesh Mishra audience broke into an impromptu dance.

In his welcome note the president of MKP informed that the event was blessed by message from one of the famous celebrities from the sate, Actor/Parliamentarian/Ex Minister Shri Shatrughan Sinha. He also explained how over the last 19 years MKP has been active in Kuwait and past member children and adults have moved on to earn name for the two states around the globe. The Ambassador of India to Kuwait HE Sri Sunil Jain inaugurated the event by lighting of lamp and spoke about his experiences of Bihar & Jhakhand. This was followed by welcome to all guests and sponsors who joined him on the stage to release the Souvenir.

The stage performances started with “A dedication to Mahakavi Sri Vidyapati”, “Invocation Alaripu” and “MAA Tujhe Salam – India Walon” performed by Mrs Shweta Shruti, Shreya Neeraj Kumar, Shaizab Ansari, Astha Neeraj, Fahad Shakir Khan, Haritha Balaji, Ayan Fazal Khan, Farida & Sahana.

“Nari Mandal Ki Khoj” was a skit based on a script by Hindi Manch of New England USA. Actors were Pratima Ritwik, Nitu Sinha, Nivedita and Sangeeta. Melody quotient was provided by songs from Shweta Shruti, Nitin Parbhakar, Shazaib Sabir Ansari, Sona Ranjan and Rakesh Mishra.

It was not only Entertainment but Infotainment. Vijay Ananat and Faaizha, two of the winners of Incredible India: Bihar & Jharkhand competition of the Parisar made a small presentation on Bihar & Jhakhand and also conducted an audience quiz. Some answers were easy. But it took time for the audience to recall some answers like Jayaprakash Narayan as one of the Bahrat Ratna recipients from Bihar. Principal, Salmiya Indian Model School awarded the plaques to the winners of Incredible India: Bihar & Jharkhand competition Vijay Anant, Faaizha. K, John Daniel, Fizza Yawari & Ammar Khan.

Awards were also presented to children of Maurya Kala members for achievement in Academic and other fields. Shreyasi Bhardwaj, Divya Kumari, Afshan Arshad, Shaheryar Arshad, Mohd. Shahzaib Ansari and Fahad Khan received the awards. The Ambassador also handed trophy to Santosh Choauhan for his exceptional choregraphy. Winners of the event Dinkar Poetry Awards 2014 Ms. Thaiba of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan was invited on the stage to recite her poems. In the finale performance members of Executive Committee Members Divya Ritwik, Arfoz Alam, Braj Gupta, Ramesh Kumar, Samir Ranjan, Abhay Kashyap, Janmejay Tiwari, Rohit Deo, Sabir Ansari, Shahnawaj Mirza and Vivek Sinha who joined the dancing kids on the stage. Raffle draw was conducted by asking members from the audience to draw the winners. Sabir Ansari delivered the vote of thanks.

The show was anchored by Divya Ritwik, Asha Mishra and Arfoz Alam and several items were choreographed by Santosh Chauhan. Audio Video coordination was by Zafar Siddaqui. Maurya Kala Parisar is a cultural and social association of people connected to the Indian state of Bihar and Jharkhand, active since 1995. The association, registered with Indian Embassy in Kuwait is dedicated to promotion of arts, culture and social service among Indian community in Kuwait. The organization gets its name from the Maurya Dynasty of Patliputra of ancient India.

Among the most active bodies in Kuwait, the association has conducted several cultural and sports events this year, which have been firsts of its kind. Ethnic Food Festival showcased popular cuisines of eastern India, Sports & Wellness Day which also marked the beginning of Yoga Classes are some of the other events conducted in the year 2014.
