Five year cap was earlier rejected by GCC countries - Director General of Public Authority for Manpower

Gulf Cooperation Council countries had at an earlier point rejected a proposal to limit the stay of unskilled expatriates to maximum of five years, said Jamal Al-Dousary, Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower.

He made his statements on the sidelines of the 36th meeting of the GCC labor ministries’ undersecretaries Monday, one day after the parliament’s legislative committee approved the law. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will discuss the draft law with the panel when summoned, Dousary added.
