Passport expiry fines counted a month following last arrival

In relief for thousands of expats living in Kuwait, many of them who paid the fines for failing to update their passport information with the immigration department found out that they do not have to pay fines effective from the previous passport expiry date, which would be a fortune, and that they only paid fines for one month after their last arrival in the country.

According to reports by Kuwait Times daily, they went to the immigration department expecting to pay considerable sums for the whole period since their passports’ last expiry date, but they found that taking the responsibility for allowing them to leave and return to the country after renewing or extending their passport validity, the Interior Ministry took part of the blame and only fined them for one month after their most recent return to Kuwait.
