‘No hike’ in water, electricity charges

Kuwait Government has decided not to take any decision concerning increase of electricity and water charges until an extensive research is conducted to determine the actual electricity and water consumption needs of people with limited income living in residential and commercial buildings. “After the research, the extra consumption in each household will be considered wastage and will be charged accordingly”, local daily reported quoting sources.

According to report, Water and electricity charges will be increased in other sectors like the government, oil and commercial sectors, regardless of the consumption rate. Standard charges will be imposed which will be different from the current charges.

Daily also added that a committee has been tasked to determine the actual electricity need of the residential sector within two years minimum.
