On 18th April 2015, I was informed that the Friends of Kannur, FOKE, Farwaniya unit is taking all children for an outing to a museum specially for cars, namely Vintage and Classic Car Museum. We started the tour around 4.00pm from Farwaniya in small groups travelling by our own vehicle. When we entered the gate first we saw that there were a few cars kept outside. All those cars were used in 20th century, that means almost in 1900’s to 1999. When we were about to enter inside we saw a very old, almost completely rusted car. Many of us went and clicked a picture posing in front of the car.

Then we went inside into the museum, on both sides the cars and two to three bikes were kept in a line. I started to look around the cars from the left side. Most of the cars were manufactured in the company called Aston Martin. The first three cars were also used in James Bond movies. Then I saw a car which Queen Elizabeth had used. I saw many cars which the Kings and Princesses of different countries had used. I saw a car on which a bullet was shot. This was the first section of the museum where all the cars were kept. Then we moved to another small section were the engines and other parts of the cars were kept open.

Then we went to another section where we could drive a car. Only children between 10-17 years old could drive. It was , like we had a test. The ladies sitting on the corner asked our name, civil id number and other important details which had to be stored in the computer. They told us to sit in a room where they put a DVD in which there were instructions about how to drive a car, safety measures and road signs. We had to follow all those otherwise they would fail us in the test. Then our chance came to drive a car. It was my first experience to drive a car. There were instructors sitting besides us who would instruct us how to drive. It was a good experience; only one girl amongst us passed the test. Rest of us all failed.

Then we went to see a race between sports cars, there were 5 ladies racing against each other. We saw for some time and then it was time for us to go home. Unfortunately we had to go back home. This was a very unique and thrilling experience for me. Initially I thought it would be boring, I thought my friends are going that is why I joined. This outing in turn was a very exciting and memorable experience for me . I would tell all my school friends also to visit that museum and to experience the royalty and uniqueness of the past.
