Garden Boys in front: Community League Q8 Football

Football among expatriates in Kuwait fulfills its function to divert one's mind from reality whilst bringing different communities together in friendship.

Community League Q8 organized by the ‘Community’ is a football league in Kuwait which basically for Indian expatriates. The league which got underway 30th April 2015 consists of 10 teams, playing in a round-robin league for a total of 9 games each.



Top 4 teams qualify and move on to the semifinals. Duration of each match is 25 minutes.

The entire league, in its First Season, is spread over 2 months with matches every Thursday played at Everton Ground, Bayan from 7pm to 10pm.

The ‘Community’ comprises of some amazing class of youngsters out to impress sports admirers by their sheer determination.



The mission of the Community League is to work with the community to improve football standards, player skills and engender friendship. It’s an event where family and friends come to support their teams and their loved ones. The community’s enthusiasm, commitment and constant backing has played a vital role in making the event possible.



The Community’s volunteers devote their time and efforts in all areas of planning, development and execution with a new concept and fresh ideas. All the activities such as officiating matches, managing the technical table, photography, audio-visual presentations, Food and beverage, marketing, running the league’s website, etc is done by the volunteers.



Community League Q8 is sponsored by Sports Direct, Red Bull, Abraaj, McDonalds, etc.

TEAMS

Participating teams are Faction, Elements, Marvels, Garden Boys, Dominic Savio, Maracana, Reds & Blues, Long Shots, Goans United, and Skarz.



Garden Boys are currently leading the table after 8 rounds with 22 points followed by Long-Shots with 21 points. Garden Boys have scored 23 goals in their 8 rounds so far. Rafiq M and Ihab Khairy of Garden Boys are the leading scorers in the league with 9 and 8 goals respectively.



Top 4 teams will be determined on the 4th June 2015. The semifinals and finals are slated for 11th June 201 starting at 7pm.
