Winning hearts on and off the hockey pitch since 1978, that is how one would describe Victor Picardo, legendary goalkeeper and all round hero of the Kuwait Independents Hockey Club. The ever smiling and jovial Legend donned on his gloves for the last time on 17th June 2015, in a Club friendly game of Veterans Vs Youngsters in honor of his departure.

Picardo joined the club in 1978 and has played and won many games since. The Club secured many victories with him acting as an impenetrable force; protecting his goal from any wayward attackers.

Picardo was a mentor of sorts to the youth, inspiring and training them as he worked hard to perfect his own game. The Kuwait Independents Hockey club presented Picardo with a T-shirt signed by all the players as well as a memento from General Secretary Bernard Fernandes.

Picardo will carry with him the good wishes and gratitude of the entire Kuwait Indian hockey community as he leaves for India and bids farewell to the community that he served for more than three decades.
