ASSE recognizes Ashok Garlapati as IPS Safety Professional of the Year

ASSE International Practice Specialty (IPS) recognizes Ashok Garlapati of Kuwait Chapter as IPS Safety Professional of the Year 2015 At Safety 2015 Conference & Exposition, Dallas, USA
Awards for each of the Practice Specialties of ASSE have been distributed since the early 1970s. These awards were established to recognize select Practice Specialty members who have helped advance the occupational safety, health and environmental profession through exemplary volunteer service to the Society and to their respective Practice Specialty during the ASSE calendar year. As part of Award & Honors Program, outstanding contributors in each Practice Specialty are recognized every year with the Safety Professional of the Year Award.
Ashok Garlapati, Professional Member of ASSE KC has been awarded with “Safety Professional of the Year 2015 by International Practice Specialty of ASSE on 9th June 2015 at Dellas, USA during SAFETY 2015 Conference & Exposition.
Ashok is a past Administrator (2012-14) of the International Practice Specialty and Chair of the Diversity Committee, and has served the ASSE International Practice Specialty in a variety of roles since 2008. This position provides a global professional forum for advancing the international issues that affect safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals. IPS supports one of the key elements of the Society's vision statement—to provide global leadership for the safety profession. He participated in ASSE Global Taskforce and his efforts in globalization of ASSE are commendable. In 2013, Ashok was been appointed by ASSE as Ambassador for Middle East, India and SE Asia for his voluntary efforts with ASSE and to further promote Society objectives in these countries
Ashok played a key role in Kuwait Chapter, which within a short span of establishing, as a Chapter in the year 2000, has become one of the largest Chapter outside USA with more than 400 members. He has served Kuwait Chapter at many positions from its inception and participated in the Global Taskforces of ASSE-USA, which has worked for the benefit of international ASSE members. He was also instrumental in establishing and mentoring many new chapters in Asia and Middle East.
Ashok is serving ASSE-KC as an Advisory Committee member and is presently working with Kuwait Oil Company in Drilling & Technology Directorate as HSE Consultant.
The Executive Committee 2014-15 of ASSE Kuwait Chapter takes this opportunity in congratulating Mr. Ashok for his achievement. He deserves this recognition for his sincere and dedicated service to the Society. ASSE Kuwait chapter wishes him with much more honors in future for his endeavors in promoting safety health & environment practices in the industry, community & among SH&E professionals.
