Writers’ Forum Celebrated Independence Day of India

On an auspicious evening of 15th August 2015, Writers’ Forum, Kuwait organized an event of Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira in association with the Embassy of India at its auditorium. It is a matter of great pride and privilege for the Writers' Forum and its members that the event was organized under the joint banner of the Embassy of India (Govt. of India) and the Writers' Forum, Kuwait. It was a celebration of Independence Day through poetic verses and the event was of its own kind (unique) and took place for the first time. Poets recited their poetry with immense patriotism, honoring the occasion and held the audience spellbound.

At the outset General Secretary, Ms. Tajwer Sultana welcomed the chief guest and the audience. Ms. Tajwer highlighted the significance of the occasion to all Indians and stressed that the occasion should be celebrated as a festival of oaths and promises of good deeds & virtues.

Following the welcome address by the General Secretary, the president of the Forum, Mr. Umesh Sharma felicitated the Chief Guest, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), Honourable Mr. Shubhashis Goldar. The evening was inaugurated by the Chief Guest by lighting the lamp joined by the President of the Forum Mr. Umesh Sharma, General Secretary of the Forum, Ms. Tajwer Sultana, Joint Secretary, Mr. Sunil Sonsi and Finance Secretary, Mr. Aamir Diwan. This was followed by National Anthem.

President of the Writers’ Forum, Mr. Umesh Sharma in his speech, shared his ideas about Freedom and National Integration with the audience. He advised Indians to thwart attempts by the divisive forces and work for national integration.

Honorable chief guest, Mr. Goldar expressed his appreciation and admiration to the Writers' Forum to organize this program on a very short notice.

Host for the evening, Tajwer Sultana invited poets of the Writers' Forum to their seats on the stage. At the end, she invited Dr. Mirza Umer Beg, a welL known Writer of Urdu fiction, former President of the forum and an environmental scientist to preside over the function. She then invited the poet and compere for the evening, Mr. Afroz Alam who fostered the poets to recite, along with a brief Introduction of each poet.

Those who recited poetry in Hindi included Aamir Diwan, Tajwer Sultana, Chhaya Athavale, UmeshSharma and Dr. Arvind Raina. Those who read their poems in Urdu included Nadeem Muzaffernagri, Shakeel Jamshedpuri, Ibrahim Sangeraja, Tajwer Sultana, Sabir Umar, Saeed Nazar Kadpawi, Afroz Alam and S. Qamar Minto.

The evening concluded with the presidential remarks by Dr Mirza Umer Beg Who overwhelmingly lauded the efforts of the Writers Forum and appreciated each and every poet for his / her contribution to the occasion.

Vote of thanks was rendered by the Joint Secretary, Mr. Sunil Sonsi with a special gratitude to His Excellency the Ambassador of India, Mr. Sunil Jain and all the Embassy officials for their cooperation, support and guidance. He thanked participants and audience

The melodious session of poetry left an imprint on the hearts of the audience which will be remembered for a long time to come.
