ASSE organized Beach Clean Up Drive – 2016

A Community Outreach Event

American Society of Safety Engineers – Kuwait organized a Beach Cleanup Drive on 16th April 2016 at Mahboula Beach. During the amazing signature event around 200 people including school children from Indian Educational School, Jaleeb Al-Shyoukh and India International School, Mangaf, ASSE Members and their family members , General public from all over kuwait.

The program started with a welcome speech from ASSE Kuwait Chapter where in Mr. Jignesh Shah, Secretary, welcomed all the participants. He thanked all for their presence and active participation. Mr. G. Sampath Reddy, President, ASSE Kuwait Chapter informed the participants that “Our goal for Cleanup Day at Mahboula Beach is not only to pick up every piece of trash we can reach, but also to educate the public on the responsibility of keeping the beaches clean and save our mother environment”.

Mr. Safdar Ali Khan , Head, Outreach Committee delivered a safety talk on the Do’s & Don’ts. T Shirts, Caps, Hand Gloves, Trash Bag were distributed to all the participants and the trash collection kicked off.

The volunteers spent 2 hours picking up everything from cigarette butts, plastic bottles and food wrappers to lost fishing nets and major appliances etc. The group Leaders coordinated the trash collection and the trash bags were collected at identified collection centers and then later all the trash bags were loaded in a heavy truck and transported.

The Cleanup Drive started at 8:00 am and stretched till 10.30 am. During the closing notes as part of appreciation and recognizing the efforts of the people, ASSE Kuwait Chapter Executive Committee members handed over mementos to Bhavans and IIS School Principals for their support.The event was supported by the Kuwait Municipality, Ahmadi Governorate

Finally the participation certificates were distributed to all the school children for their active role in the event. The ASSE – Kuwait Chapter, has been organizing these events in Kuwait for several years; targeting a new beach every year.
