NKAK celebrated Feast of the Assumption & Independence Day of India.

It was a great day of celebration for the Executive Board and members of North Kanara Association – Kuwait (NKA-K) who gathered together once again as one family on Monday, 15th August, 2016, to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption as well as the Independence Day of India.

Eucharistic celebration was offered by the Association at St. Therese Church, Salmiya, at 6.30pm and thereafter a huge crowd gathered at the residence of the President Mr. John Fernandes for a get together which consisted of families and bachelors from other religions as well. Holy Rosary was recited led by Mr. Ashu Rodrigues.

Rev. Fr. Antony Lopez, OFM Cap., JCD., Eccl. Judge & Chancellor who graciously attended the function, delivered an inspiring talk to the audience after the prayers, Mr. Ashu Rodrigues gave an introductory talk and spoke on the purpose of the celebration. The President thanked the members for their contribution in various ways.

A game of Housie was conducted by Mr. Raymond Rego, Mr. Diago Borges, and Mr. Ashu Rodrigues and several prizes were distributed to the winners by Rev. Fr. Anthony Lopez.

The traditional sweet Patolis were prepared by few members of NKA-K at the residence of Mr. John Fernandes. A sumptuous festive dinner that was prepared by Mr. Joseph Fernandes and Mr. Leanv Lopes who voluntarily contributed to cook, was relished by all attendees.

National Anthem of our Mother Country India was sung by all members to commemorate our Independence Day. The huge crowd which attended consisting of families and especially the bachelors who part took in the celebration as one big family which was noteworthy.
