Mak Kuwait Win ‘Providence Cup’ Football Trophy

MAK Kuwait won the 2nd Edition 7-a-side football tournament beating Soccer Kerala 1-0 in the finals played recently at Bayan Grounds, Kuwait.
The one-day tournament was organized by ‘Providence Group’ in aid of ‘ASRO CARITAS GOA” – an orphanage centre based at Mapusa, Goa, India.

MAK Kuwait beat a number of strong teams on their way to the final. MAK scored the match-winner in the finals through Shine Marcelino. Soccer Kerala played an excellent tournament as well.

Fr. Franco Pereira was chief guest and spoke on the occasion while Mr. Antonio Almeida was the guest of honor.

Providence Group head Mr. Austin Abreo, while congratulating the winners and thanking all the participating teams and guests, duly acknowledged the support of sponsors and friends who made the tournament successful.
Matches were officiated by Rosario Colaco, Jerry, Rafiq, Sameer Nasri, Robert Barnard, Haris, Elvis, Saji, etc.

Kevin Vaz compered the entire event.
Glittering trophies were presented at the prize distribution ceremony. Following individual prizes were awarded:

Best Goalkeeper of the finals – (MAK Kuwait)
Best Defender of the tournament – Shafeek ( MAK Kuwait)
Best Midfielder of the Finals – Shine Marcelin (MAK Kuwait)
Best Striker of the Tournament – Ben Christil (MAK Kuwait)
Best Disciplined Team – Royal F C

The tournament was supported, Antonio Almeida(Kapico Travels & Tours), Mrs Nagla Rashwan (Kapico Travels & Tours), Ms Paulita Lundang (Kapico Travels & Tours), Mohammed Shah(Kapico Travels & Tours),Cajetan Fernandes (Skynet Miracles S.C) – Best Striker and Best Midfileder Trophy, Mr. Ali Asgar (Kapico Travels & Tours) – Best Decipline Trophy, Mr. Carlos Fernandes - Best Goal Keeper Trophy.

Prizes were presented at the hands of Fr. Franco Pereira, Mr. Antonio Almeida , Mr. Austin Abreo, Steven Sequeira, Marshall Fernandes, Domnic Pereira, Cajie Fernandes, Salvodar Dias, Ameer, etc.

ABOUT PROVIDENCE GROUP
Providence Group, founded in 2016, aims in serving the needy back home in India. The organization is led by Mr. Austin Abreo and supported by like-minded people such as Domnic Pereira, Marshall Fernandes, Steven Sequeira, Robert Bernard, etc.

The “Providence Cup” 7-aside Football Tournament is the 2nd event organized by the group and they promise to hold many such events in future for charitable activities.

‘ASRO CARITAS GOA’ – A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
ASRO, Caritas Goa - The Care Home For Children Suffering from HIV / AIDs
ASRO is a shelter for innocent children infected with HIV/AIDS through no fault of theirs, the homeless as some were orphaned or parents themselves are ill or unable/unwilling to nurture their seriously infected children.

Most of the Children in this care home are orphans but some have a single parent or distant relatives. They have been abandoned by their relatives and rejected by the society. Almost without exception they have been infected by their parents. At present the care centre has 34 children; 29 of them are studying in St. Ann’s School, Tivim from KG to Higher Secondary. Some are doing tailoring and flower making art. They require proper nourishing diet, supportive medical treatment, above all love and care.
