In October 2015, few of the community-friendly social activists in the Gulf countries, namely Shihab Khan, Joseph Babychan, Jose Noel (Dubai), Thomas Joseph (Sharjah), Sajeer Nilamel, Noble Chacko (Saudi Arabia), KR Nair (Bahrain), Jeby Varghese, Shaji Joseph (Qatar), Vinod Lal (Oman), Mubarack Kambrath, Rashid Puthukulangara, Sibi Aarapat (Kuwait), and along with the rest of the fellowship, started a WhatsApp group "Lend a hand to expatriates” and based on many debates and a one-year comprehensive study of the Kerala Expatriates Issues, began to gather expatriate Keralates on WhatsApp and Face Book Group on October 30, 2016.Quite astonishingly, the community grown to 13 WhatsApp groups, consisting of 3000+ members from 32 countries within 60 days. Organisers’ claims that it is rarest of such a huge expatriates gathering within short period would be unlikely to occur in another organization. Meanwhile on 23rd December 2016, the UAE chapter of KPWA submitted a detailed memorandum to Chief Minister of Kerala who was on visit to meet his fellow state NRI public. It was quite subjective on expatriate relocation plans, development plans and solutions for few many issues faced by expatriate Kerala community who are around 9% of Kerala State population and major contributors in State’s Economy.

The organizers announces that the KPWA team leaders has also launched parallel activity back in Kerala State to gather former migrants from 14 districts under the leadership of Mr. Shukoor, Hashim, Suroor, Noble Chacko, and Ram Das in order to support them on welfare and relocation support for the needy.

KPWA is aiming to bring the exile Malayali across the world under one umbrella, arrange aggressive negotiations and discussions on the basic and essential requirements for expatriate Kerala community back in homeland and submit project outline for the rehabilitation to the authorities. Organisers said that the main goals of the organization are to make maximum use of NORKA department projects and spread awareness on its subjects to expatriates. KPWA is also committed on contributing for captivity of the NORKA Department at all the possibilities ways. KPWA realises that expatriate Kerala community is scattered and minimised as small communal/political and regional organisations and trying to rebuilt the feeling of being together in coordination with the same small associations.
