Abbassiya Indian Expatriates Issues OICC Requests Embassy Intervention

Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC-Kuwait) during a visit to the Indian Embassy on last Wednesday, 18th January, 2017, expressed its serious concern and grievances over the ongoing calamities in Abbassiya area such as manhandling, a kind of robbery and snatching valuable things from pedestrian Indian Expatriates.

In the meeting, H.E. Excellency the Indian Ambassador Sri. Sunil Jain Sri., Deputy Chief of Mission Sri. Shubashis Goldar and Second Secretary Sri. A.K. Shrivastava gave assurance to take up the issue with the concerned authorities – Consulter Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Governor of Farwaniya, for necessary attention and action.

Due to these unfortunate incidents, the Indian Expatriates in Abbassiya, majorly Keralites are totally distressed and shocked, as they are reluctant go out, even to Supermarkets with a fear that this might happen to them also.

Aby Varicad, Acting President, B.S. Pillai, General Secretary, Vice-President Samuel Chacko and Harish Thrippunithura, Welfare wing Chairman were the OICC officials, who met with the Embassy Officials.

Before leaving, the OICC officials raised the issue of the drastic drainage problem that the Abbassiya residents have been experience for quite some time. The Embassy officials have also ascertained to look into this again.
