Raag`N’Rhythm’s befitting tribute to a 21st Century Composer of Carnatic music

Raag`N’Rhythm, an ensemble created by Malini Viswanath to promote classical performing arts in Kuwait and Hyderabad, paid tribute to a great Vaggyekara(Composer)and musicologist of the 21st Century,Maha Guru Sangeetha Mahamahopadhyaya Brahmasri Kollegal Subramanyam on 18th February, Saturday in Kuwait. The great composer forsook his mortal coils in August 2016,after contributing to the world of Carnatic Classical music for nine decades through his 700 compositions, treatises on music and `Sri Thyagaraja Vaibhavam’ the life history of the 17th Century Bard of Thiruvayyar,Sri Thyagaraja authored by him in English,Tamil,Kannada and Telugu languages.

The tribute in Kuwait featured release of` Sri Thyagaraja Vaibhavam’ in English((translated into English by Shri K Narayanswamy.IA&AS(Retd))(father of Smt Malini Viswanath),in the presence of H.E. Abu Koti Baker(Ambassador,Burkina Faso),Mrs. Anju Dheeman(Principal,FAIPS,DPS),Chaitali B Roy(Special Correspondent, well known Columnist and Authoress)and Mr. and Mrs. Gopal. Shri Suryaprakash,a technocrat and a well-known toastmaster, took the listeners with élan over the life and contributions of the great Guru.Dr Navniit Gandhi, an insightful writer/poet, presented her musings ‘In Quest of a Guru’.Sishyas of Smt Malini Viswanath rendered compositions of Guru Kollegal Subramanyam as a musical tribute and his composition` Gajaanana Akuvahana’ in Ragam Revathi,was choreographed for Nritta/Abhinaya for the first time. Smt Malini Viswanath, presented a documentary on the life of Guru, followed by rendition of Dharu Varnam in Ragam Kamas and a rare Guru Composition Paarka Paarka(in Tamil) in the Ragam Sunada Ranjani ably accompanied by Shri S Balamurli on the violin and Shri P Harilal on the mridangam.Smt Malini’s global Sishyas sent in their virtual tribute.Ambika, Bhavana,Himaja, Vaishnavi,Meghna, Navya,Emma,Raghavi, DrJyotsna,

Dr Veena, Kaushik, Nanditha,Preetha,Sheani (a specially abled child) and Raghavesh were the participating Sishyas.
