His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah has invited Indian Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi to Kuwait. The invitation has been delivered to PM Modi in Delhi, informed Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Sunil Jain.

However the date for Modi's visit to Kuwait is not yet decided and it will be finalized by mutual convenience of both the countries, ambassador said. Two weeks back India's National Security Advisor Sri Ajit Doval, who is possibly India's second most important man after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had visited Kuwait and held high level meeting with HH The Amir of Kuwait and other high level officials.

Modi's visit to Kuwait was a long time demand by the Indian community in Kuwait after he took charge as the Prime Minister of India. This will be first visit by any Indian Prime Minister after 35 years. The Last visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait was in 1981 when the then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi visited Kuwait. The Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah had visited India in November 2013.

According to Forbes' Narendra Modi is India's populist prime minister and remains hugely popular in India. Modi has raised his profile as a global leader in recent years during official visits with Barack Obama and Xi Jinping. He has also emerged as a key figure in the international effort to tackle climate change, as planetary warming will deeply affect millions of his country's rural and most vulnerable citizens.
