‘Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader, they set out to make a difference...it’s never about the role, it’s always about the goal.’

A new chapter was written in the history of Salmiya Indian Model School with the dawn of a new day on 15 May 2017. The school held its fourth investiture and scholar badge ceremony with great pomp and vigor. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Mohemmad Tariq, the chairman of Paradigm Pioneers Group and the special guest of honour was Mr. Mohemmad Haseeb Ur Rab, the chief engineer of the group. Accompanying them were the director, Dr. Anis Ahmed, the Principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Joseph, and Vice Principal, Mrs. Anita Sadanand.

The ceremony started with the marching in of the student council. It was indeed a spectacular sight! The young and vibrant student council members exuded confidence and hope as they came on the stage for receiving their honor. The oath was administered by the Principal. The students pledged to uphold the ideals of the school and work tirelessly to be worthy of the trust reposed in them.

The investiture was then followed by the scholar badge ceremony. The meritorious students of the academic year 2016-17 were awarded by the guests with medals and badges in recognition of their absolute zeal in academics. It was absolutely delightful watching the students of classes 1 to 12 come on the stage, their faces beaming with pride and joy, to receive the much-awaited reward.

After the ceremony, the chief guest, Dr. Tariq addressed the audience. He appreciated the efforts by the school for providing opportunities to the students. He also congratulated the newly appointed student council. Not only did he advise them on how to carve a niche for themselves, but also stressed on the need to be smarter in today’s competitive world. He spoke of companies like Uber whose innovative methods have brought huge success to them.

The program came to an end with a Vote of Thanks by a Student Council member and a group photo on the stage. The day ended with the promise of bigger goals, greater heights and a brighter future ahead.
