Samskritam Competition : A run up leading to International Yoga Day

As part of the International Yoga Day celebration, Samskritam Subhashita Recitation Competition (Samskrita Subhashita Spardha) was conducted by Samskrita Bharati , on 12th May at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Abbasisya.
The event is a strategic proposal of IYD -2017, presided by Indian Embassy Kuwait with various community organizations including Heartfulness, Art of Living, Seva Darshan, Amma Kuwait, Artistic Yoga and Harmony House.
The inaugural function was attended by large number of people across the country, which shows the passion to the culture and language.
Shri. Yaswant Chatpalliwar, 2nd Secretary, Indian Embassy inaugurated the session by lighting the traditional lamp. He was joined by SamskritaBharati Kuwait organizing Secretary Shri. Gopakumar P, and IYD2017 Executive member Shri Roopesh.
Addressing the eminent gathering, Shri Yashwantji officially declared the competition open. He also lauded the relentless efforts of SamskritaBharati for reviving this great language; and extended support of Indian embassy in this noble cause.
The Welcome address was delivered by SamskitaBharati Kuwait Coordinator Smt. Preeti Rajgolikar. Thanking the Indian Embassy for the inclusion of Samskritam in IYD 2017 Celebration, Smt.Preethi explained about different courses that Samskritabharati is offering and emphasized the commitment of Samskritabharati for the revival of the language. Shri Roopesh offered felicitation with his encouraging words.
Students from Grades 5-12 of nearly 19 Indian Schools enthusiastically participated in the Subhashitam recitation Competition. Participants were Categorized as Sub Junior, Junior and Senior. Their whole hearted recitation of the Samkritam Subhashitam (Pearls of Good Sayings) enlivened all. It was indeed heartening to see the enthusiasm and the overwhelming response.
The Final round shall be conducted on 27th May at the Indian Embassy auditorium. This shall be followed by awarding Certificate of participation to all the Preliminary Round attendees.
SamskritBharati, Kuwait continues the noble venture of propagating Samskritam to the expat community in Kuwait with the help of Indian Embassy .
Winners of the Final Round shall be awarded at the International Yoga Day 2017 celebrations on 17th June, to be held at the Indian Embassy auditorium.
