Abbassiya Konkani Families celebrated Monthi Festh 2017

Abbassiya Konkani Families, Kuwait celebrated the Feast of Nativity (Monthi Festh) on Friday September 15 at Integrated Indian School open air auditorium. Celebration began at 4:00 pm singing joyful hyms in honour of Mother Mary by the parish Konkani Choir trained by Rony Jasmine D cuhna n Morvine Quodras. Then followed the solemn procession with musical band with children honoring Mary with flowers, followed by the Committee members along with Blessed candles (Manachi Vaath) paddy grains, Sugar Cane, dates, and the enthusiastic young men carrying the beautifully decorated INFANT MARY followed by the Altar Servers & priests.

With the blessing of the new grain and the people singing ‘MORIYEK HOGOLLSIYAN’ the children showered the flowers on Mother Mary with great enthusiasm and devotion which brought back to mind the childhood memories of the Monthi Festh celebrated in our hometown, Mangalore.

The solemn mass was celebrated by the visiting priest Fr. Ivan Melwyn D’Souza OFM Cap. Concelebrated by Fr. Antony Lopez, Fr. Blany Pinto and spiritual director Fr. Noel D’Almeida. Fr. Xavier joined in later After the mass Manachi Vaath was distributed to all the sponsors and donors. Then, sugarcane (Kobu) was distributed to the delighted children, the present generation who are rarely aware of the actual monthi festh celebration.

President Ronnie Fernandes with his welcome speech commenced the THIRD PART of the evening which was the cultural programe & noven jevann presentation, Dance, Skit, Songs, Hymns arranged by Pressy Rodrigues, Cheryl Furtado, Jessy D’souza & wherein the gulf voice 2016 winner Joyline was honored in presence of council members Norbert D’souza, Peter Fernandes, Shanti Lobo and new Konkani CD “Nasha” of Anil Lavina Pais was released. Also Main Sponsor (Pirjinth) Monthu Furtado n sponsors felicitated by the Abbasiya Konkani Families Kuwait along with felicitation of band group which was sponsored by Naveen Cedric

Dsa the dignitaries and the people savored the delicious traditional vegetarian Manglorean food (Nove Jevan) prepared by M & M caterers served on a banana leaf and licked off their fingers with the mouth-watering ‘Vorn’.

The programme was well compered by Deepak Andrade and Walter Santhmayor. Previous Achievements read by Maxim D’Souza and vote of thanks was proposed by Lavina Furtado.

Over 1,500 people partook in the celebration and enjoyed this Unique Abbasiya Konkani Community traditional Monthi Festh 2017.
