ICSK Amman celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by organizing various programmes in the campus on 2nd October 2017. The day began by remembering Mahatma Gandhi, reciting the slogans and his favourite bhajan ‘Raghupathi Raghava Raja Ram’. The Students of Primary wing represented the school in the celebration organized by the Embassy of India. The participants dressed up in white traditional dress signifying peace since the day also marked International day of nonviolence. They rendered a very melodious song ‘Hume lana hoga....’

The KG section organized a Fancy Dress Competition ‘Dress up as great Leaders’ to mark the occasion. Students of class VI conducted a special assembly remembering the great leader. A cleanliness drive was organized for senior students to make them understand the value of labour. The dignity of labour, also known as the dignity of work, is the philosophy practiced by Gandhiji that all types of jobs are respected equally and no occupation is considered superior. They were guided by the teachers to clean their classrooms and school premises. Children happily and gratefully executed the tasks assigned to each class.

Principal Mr. Rajesh Nair in his address reminded the students to uphold the values and principles taught by Gandhiji. The programme kindled a feeling of patriotism among students and was a real tribute to Gandhiji, the Father of our nation.
